Thanks for the infos guys. You really helped a lot!!!

I wonder if I should look on ebay for some stufs, I'm sure i can find good deal but is it reliable?!?

    I think this:

    Brand: Acer
    Hard Drive Capacity: 160 GB
    Screen Size: 15 inches
    Processor Type: Intel Core Duo
Operating System: Windows Vista Premium Edition
    Primary Drive: Double Layer DVD±R | DVD SuperMulti Drive | DVD-RAM | DVD±RW | CD-RW
    Processor Speed: 2 GHz

    840$

    or

    Dell
    Hard Drive Capacity: 120 GB
    Family: VOSTRO
    Screen Size: 15 inches
    Processor Type: core 2 duo
Operating System: WINDOW VISTA HOME BASIC
    Primary Drive: DVD+/-RW
    Processor Speed: 2 GHz

    ~ 1000$

    or

    Brand: Sony
    Hard Drive Capacity: 120 GB
    Screen Size: 15 inches
    Processor Type: Intel Dual Core
Operating System: Windows VIsta Home Premium
    Primary Drive: DVD+/-RW
    Processor Speed: 3.2 GHz
    Memory (RAM): 1 GB

    900$

This looks like a good deal, one question. If the processor speed is 3.6GHz that means that each processor is 1.8, or I'm talking bullshi* now... :D
Even thou the price looks cheap, and smells little fishy about it I can definitely find with processor speed 2Ghz & 2Ghz RAM for same amount, 1000 maybe but I think this is good choice anyway...

spec wise, acer clearly has advantage. you shouldn't be mislead though, you should consider other stuffs as well.
for me,other than spec, i'd consider these factors : cool, good build quality, not noisy, life, warranty and mobility.
I suggest you to google and do some research on notebook you're interested in.
    good luck finding your notebook.

if you have the money go for an ASUS, these things are freaking great.
The 2nd thing that comes in mind is Dell, very good value for money and offers a range of options for the things you need.
I would also recommend the core Duo with 2gb Ram

I'm a happy HP user.any reason why Vaio is the best?
These all are my opinions just like everyone claiming what is the best to buy. and it came out of my experience of course. I had HP and my neighbor too, HP really gave me hard times, alot!! same for my neighbor too. as for Vaio, my cousin is using one, and I use it too sometimes, it's a bomb, from the look, to the performance, to the "health" of lap top. and from everyone I hear, it is the best around!!

we have different experiences, two of my friends are using vaio. and I can tell they're not impressed cause both of them went to the service centre at least twice since buying. :p
the positive things are the service centre is very helpful as long as it's still in warranty. once you're out of warranty, good luck with the overprice component.

recently I switch my notebook from ThinkPad R40 to HP NC6430.imo the latter has better build quality, runs cooler and near silent during normal usage. It also has 3 years global warranty.

I have 4 friends using vaio notebooks and they are most pleased with them,
they cost 3.500 a piece but they are very powerful, complete and most important, notebooks are really mobile, they have the dimensions all mobile computers should of have, you can really curry them and do business with them everywhere!

As for Dell, indeed they are one of the best firms in the market and their strong point is their reliability, they were the best for a great period of time and mostly because of the lack of overheat problems and the extended guarantee.
Things have changed a little bit the last years though.
Their competitors managed to catch up, mostly by using the new advanced tech that would allow less consumptions and very very competitive prices, the situation right now canceled Dell's advantages.
Being a USA based firm still have their fair share in the market there, but Dell are considered very expensive in the rest of the world.
For ex. Dell laptop is the most expensive of Midzata's short list and doesnt seem to be the best one spec wise.

Acer is a fine choice overall, very competitive and experts on toping compare lists at very good prices, for all i can tell this is the best effort of showing your respect to the client, top material and a decent price.

Midzata grab the acer it has decent spec at that price category and dont worry, it is as good as the rest of his direct opponents and maybe even better in very good price, if you spare the extra cash you could choose a 2GB ram version of it,
2GB of RAM can handle almost everything, i dont think you will ever need to upgrade again...

A few last minute notes though:

-most of the laptops use the intel embedded graphic chips, which are good enough to show off vista effects, but can t handle almost any game,
not even PES..., if one of those laptops has a real graphic chip, it has a great advantage over the rest
-check their weight half a kilo can really make the difference when we are talking about "mobility"
-dont get carried about the commercial trix they have for software material, most of it is shareware
-Check about the RAM extensions capabilities, most of the laptops that come with 1GB ram use a kit with two 512MB modules and do not have extra slots left to add more.
So if you want an extra GB added now or later, you must buy two 1GB modules instead of just one and discard the two old 512MB RAM modules, the upgrade will cost you 2 times more.
So if any of those laptops have this 1GB RAM in a single module it should be favored. I think they are all limited to a 2GB RAM at max...
    Glad we helped!

I'm going to take out my old hard drive; buy a casing and use that as an external hd to store all my mp3's and movie files. On the laptop I'm planning installing Vista Lite (I think that's what it's called).

Probably I'll throw few extra bucks and I will take the Sony with 2GB RAM... I mean I won't buy laptop every year, and probably I won't try to upgrade it, I'll just buy new one when my old one will fail my expectations. And cheap stock is more expencive than the expencier stock. Caz you'll probably will have to buy twice to get what you want! So...

So I gues I'll have good design, mobility & solid performace. Mobility is importaint, caz I move alot, and batery life also, so I'll try to get longer life batery, or Vaio's stock batery is good. Anyone got a clue how long does it goes, if you don't listen music?!? Just ordenary processing.

Those lst minute notes are good adivces, thank Chronios. I was aware for most of them, but I will pay atention to the graphic card now that you mentioned. I mean if you know all these infos from expirience, probably you are right for the graphic card also!

    Here's rep for all!!!

You're better off sticking with XP.
