Chievo have had mixed fortunes away from the Bentegodi, amassing three wins, three draws and seven defeats on their travels.

Di Carlo’s side began their away campaign with a trip to Parma, still smarting after an opening day 4-1 defeat against Juventus. Giovinco handed the hosts the lead but Paloschi looked to have sealed a point with 11 minutes remaining. However, Giovinco struck a last-gasp injury-time winner to give the hosts their first victory of the season.

The Gialloblu then travelled to the Dino Manuzzi to play out a goalless encounter with Cesena. The hosts - who had previously failed to register a single point - missed a penalty midway through the second period as both teams went on to settle for a point apiece.

A Thiago Motta goal grabbed Inter all three points at the San Siro before Siena ran riot in a resounding 4-1 win in Tuscany. Chievo’s first success on the road came against Catania, with Pellissier and Sammarco scoring a goal apiece in a 2-1 success.

Two defeats then followed from tough away encounters. A 4-0 loss against Milan preceded a 2-1 reverse in Udine.

Chievo returned from consecutive fixtures in the capital with a single point after drawing 0-0 against Lazio and dipping 2-0 to Roma.

The Gialloblu then began to climb steadily up the league courtesy of an upturn in fortunes away from home. After suffering 2-0 defeat against Napoli, Di Carlo’s men rediscovered their resilience and strung together an impressive sequence of results: drawing 2-2 in Lecce, winning 2-1 in Novara and snatching a 1-0 success in Genova.
