Chiellini sick of Juve bench Friday 7 October, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Giorgio Chiellini has warned Juventus that he’s looking for a move to Roma if he doesn’t get more first team football.

“I really can’t stand for the fact we’ve played eight games between Serie A and the Champions League, yet I haven’t played a single minute of football with a Juve jersey,” slammed the defender.

“I knew I’d have to wait for my turn and that I am still very young, but I have a desire to play that may take me elsewhere. I can only thank Claudio Gentile and the Under-21 side for giving me the chance to prove my worth. If the situation doesn’t change, then I’ll ask to be sold.”

The 21-year-old full-back impressed last term at Fiorentina, scoring three goals in 37 Serie A appearances and doing enough to earn five caps for the senior Azzurri squad.

However, since his move to Turin in the summer, he has remained firmly rooted to the bench – or even the stands – and returned to the less hallowed Under-21 international line-up. This situation will almost certainly see him drop out of the 2006 World Cup squad contenders.

“Fabio Capello doesn’t talk to me, but that’s just the way he is,” continued the furious defender in the ‘Corriere dello Sport Stadio.’ “I can only assume the fault is mine if I haven’t convinced him of my potential up until this point. Of course Gianluca Zambrotta is the first choice for that role, but I thought that with the squad rotation I might get my chance eventually.”

There is a light at the end of the tunnel for Chiellini, as he was very close to a summer switch to Roma and that move could be completed in the January transfer window.

“I would love to join Roma. I do have a few regrets that I didn’t go to the Giallorossi in the first place, seeing how things are going at Juve, but it wasn’t my choice.”

someone who says he would love to join Roma must know he's already leaving Juventus....hopefully in a swap deal with Mancini

Before he re-joined us, I was saying it's the best for him to Join other Club.....I knew with Zambrotta he wouldn't get any-time playing...Maybe in Coppa.

Sell the little bastard, if he really wanted to get into the first team , he would do everything he could ..... forcing Cappello to play him and put rambo right back.

good, thats a chink of hope for chiellini and the rest of juve, as balza will find it easier to compete if rambo completes a transition to rightback.

Chiellini is very stupid and emotional, perfect attitude for a Roma player. It seems he hasn't learned anything from the Role Model Del Piero, instead he has to be like Totti.

If I were Chiellini I would just keep my mouth shut...be patient and the time will come, with this amount of fixtures surely he will find space if he shows good attitude. I was really hoping he would play with Juve, but with that attitude, Im not sure.

well I don't blame him at all...

Look guys, maybe was I litle emotional and wasn't the best move to came out and say this things but we have to remember that before joining us, Chiellini was NT material, he was alredy making big things for Italy, besides that he always siad that he would have prefer to stay with Fiorentina to play.

Now, he is at Juve, and like he says, he knows that Zambrotta is the firs choise, but he is also rigth to sya that it has been 8 games and he has still not play one single minute...take a look at our players and you will see that he and Gladsone are probably the only two players that haven't play for Juve this season.... makes you wonder.

Anyway, I hope to see him given a chance and if not, I really hope that we can't selll him coz he is geting waste in Juve's bench.

I would have expected him to start so much more then he has. With Zambrotta staying there is no chance for him to start, as Chiellini is basicly a slightly worse version of Gianluca. If he starts to spread quotes like these then let him leave, I don't care if it's in a swap deal or not. Players like Montero and Kapo also played far less then they would, but at least they had the dignity and professionalism to shut up and politely request a transfer in the summer.

I always thought that he is a calm guy, ever since he made his doubt in June, I already know that he may do this sometime later, but I never expect this to happen so soon. Not even 1/4 of the season and he is already complaining, he must really learn from Zalayeta.

Which is y I'm sceptical about him in Juventus, if I were Capello I plan to play him against Messina, but too bad he blew his own chance.

He has no chance against zambrotta. He will become a second Miccoli. Let`s get rid of him or loan him out. He has no chance at the moment.

ill be sad to see him go.
but i guess he doesnt have too much a future till we have zambrotta.
i would have liked to see capello shift zambrotta on the right back position for a lil while and test chilleni on the left back position, but i guess that wont happen.

There was never any hope for Chillieni from the outset quite frankly. We didnt sell Zambrotta and added Balzaretti to the squad. It only hampered the options, even though admittedly one of these two youngsters were on their way to Roma in a swap deal. That failed, and now they both are having to suffer the consequences. Even still, I think Chillieni just made Moggi's job a whole lot easier come January, because now I see Balzaretti stay.
