In Monday’s press conference Juve’s young left back, Giorgio Chiellini, signalled his desire to renew his existing contract: “It’s an honour to play for Juve and I’m excited to play a part in this club’s renaissance. My current deal runs out in 2009 but the plan is to meet with the club and renew my contract”. Chiellini referred to the club’s ambitions: “We have a serious project to regain our place at the top and as long as that’s the case, I have a part to play. I wouldn’t be here otherwise”.
When quizzed on Friday’s sentencing, the 21 year-old had this to say: “As far as we the players are concerned, we still won the scudetto. We deserved it on the pitch. As for this season, it won’t be easy if the 30 point penalty remains. But nothing is impossible. If the sentence is reduced it can only be a good thing but we can also take positives from the position we’re in now; it brings us together as a group, as fans, as a city. If we manage to achieve promotion this season it will be one of the most incredible episodes in this club’s long history. We all want to return to the level of football we were playing last year”.
And on the decision of captain Alessandro Del Piero to stay? “It’s a great stimulus for us all. I think it gives us all a reason to stay, to write the next chapter in this club’s history together.” The bianconero defender then described the impact of Deschamps’ arrival on the squad: “I only met him two days ago but already he has created a great working atmosphere, both technically and with his personality and charisma. You can tell he played himself as he understands our needs as footballers. He has made a very positive impression.”.
And finally on a place in the Italian squad: “If there’s room in the team I would love to play for the Azzuri. For me it’s not important what division or country you play in. If you’re good enough you should always have the chance to play for your national side”. Giorgio ended on a positive note: “Our plan is to return to the top of world football. We can do it.”

A change of heart eh....Many things can happen when a first team spot is lookin to be owned :D

He realises now he has a chance to be in the history books, and that is HIS stimulus.

Even though we will be playing in b this year, it's great that during this rebuilding period we have players that want and are proud to be wearing the juve shirt and are not wearing it just for the paycheck we are giving them.
