Firstly, Chen Tao is actually a good player, part of a rapidly improving youth setup. He is an attacking midfielder, and will surely be one of the pinup boys of Chinese football for years.
With this is mind, even if the lad turns out to be not good enough to play for Juve, if he sells €20m worth of merchandise (Juve have an estimated 78m following in China), we get rid of him and bring in better players with the money what is the problem?
The only issue I can see is using the non-EU spot on him, but if Juve have no-one else in mind for this season I see no issue, he will cost peanuts.
It might devalue the image of the club and be seen as a marketing ploy but lets be realistic, all the top clubs are tapping into the Asian market and Juve are in danger of fallin behind, particularly given our financial situation is not what it once was.
Given the huge population and economic growth China will be the biggest money spinner in 5-10 years, bigger than Japan and Korea imo.
