I wonder if you actually watched the game.
I have to agree with him on this one. I watched the full 90 minutes. Yes, we missed some great chances, but so did Villareal. They could've easily been up 2-0 by HT. Once again, it's that imbalance between midfield and defense. Every opponent looks dangerous coming at us, and we end up defending them with our backs glued to the goal.

What's more frustrating is how the team deliberately refuses to play football when we're either level or up by just a goal. That's clearly Tudor's doing. We even saw it in the CWC against weak non-European sides, even in big wins, every opposition attack looked like it could end in a goal. I honestly don't know what Tudor's plan is here. Stick to his stubborn ways and hope it magically turns into genius? It's not working, and every opponent is figuring it out.

Worst 45 mins of the season in the opening half.

Completely out of the game for the first 15-20 mins, we were bamboozled by Marcelino’s change to a 4-3-3, that left side was getting completely cooked by fucking Nicolas Pepe ffs - and our shitty passing (cough McKennie and Cockmongers) and passive defence allowed them so many dangerous counter attacks that they should have capitalised on. Probably lucky not to concede another goal or two by the end of the first half.

Conceicao’s introduction changed the game and we deservedly took the lead and created plenty of chances in the first 20 mins of the second half - but as always with this team, we ran out of energy, Tudor made conservative and cowardly subs and the inevitable equaliser came.

It’s been the same story at this club for nearly 6 years now and there seems to be no signs of change at all. If we put in another terrible first half like that and defend like mugs against Milan, we’ve got no chance at all this weekend.

Just realized we play Real Madrid next away, then we play again Sporting Lisbon...

Are champions League draw is crazy. Were some people here not saying that it was a better draw than last year?

We are fucked
I tried to tell people in the Champions League thread and people gave me the wut reaction, but I would be surprised if we get more than two wins from this draw. We will lose to Real and Lisboa will probably draw us as well. It’s as if these fans here never watched us before. Chances are we will draw or lose to the Portuguese or Spanish sides. They’re just better than we are as team and have better coaching.

With the David miss we deserve to miss the Champions League for three years. In fact, a miss like that doesn’t deserve any European football at all.

Any gameplan will go to hell when you have David and Koopmeiners playing two critical positions. Maybe Vlahovic is limited in his play, but he finishes those chances, he's easily our best and most reliable striker. McKennie always tries hard and gets into great positions, but his finishing is off. Koopmeiners was supposed to be the guy scoring and creating from the midfield, but he's trash.

Let’s shift our focus to the positives now.

The positive is everybody expected us to lose, especially without Bremer and Thuram. Also, we've been lucky Villarreal didn't capitalize on our terrible performance in the first half.

It's difficult to play football with so many center backs on the field. I don't know, most coaches are trying to somehow squeeze in most of their gifted players into the first eleven while Tudor tries to play all his defenders putting them as wide men too.

We can't hold the ball, we only rely on Yildiz to dribble past his markers somehow and take a shot. Problem is the boy is out of steam already. I have no idea why we don't give him some rest by introducing Openda in his place or even fucking Cambiaso who is truly TERRIBLE in defence.

Precisely this, especially on the left wing was a complete mismatch due to it, ironically Cabal’s injury was for our own best interest as he was getting outpaced and should have no business playing as a LWB even against the likes of Genoa let alone in a UCL away game vs Villareal whom had their most dangerous and pacy player in Pepe on that side.

This type of baffling picks and experiments not only limit us offensively but also exposes us defensively.

playing 10 mins = scored 2 goals
defending 80mins = conceded 2 goals

stupid italian mentality..
Back then, during Allegri era, Juve would score a goal and right after that goal went to super defensive mode, as if all creativity in midfield had vanished. The technical problem today is almost the same as back then, except that we score more goals, but the defense is completely chaotic and we conceded more goals.

Very hard to summarize yesterday's game.

The first half was awful, and the players seemed scared and shaky under the pressure of the situation. It feels like I've seen this for years. This competition just feels heavy for this club for some reason — maybe because of the five lost Champions League finals in a row?

Maybe the expectations of the club and its fanbase are out of sync with the actual quality of the squad. It's hard for me to evaluate, but the players we sign for big money seem to underperform quite consistently.

I don't know if we'll even qualify this year given the games we have left.

I am happy with the high press under Tudor, and it does seem like we're modernizing in terms of playstyle. But his team selection feels a bit overly cautious and defensive, especially when his gameplay suggests we want to take the game to the opposition.

So for me, it's still not quite clear what the overall idea and game plan are supposed to be.

Any disagreements?

because our management knows nothing about football. they are all company men. look at our mdifielders;

Thuram; 1.90, limited technique, weak at passing, slow
Locatelli; 1.85, technique eh, weak at passing, physically weak, slow
Koopmeiners; 1.85, complete shit
McKennie; 1.85, technique eh, weak at passing, slow

simply you can't play football with those midfielders. this is amateurish.
