Doesn't it depend on Spain as well now? I imagine if real madrid qualify that could be damaging?
I think the odds are super low, 1-2%, but there is a small chance. Real even going all the way to the CL final and winning isn't enough. It needs a lot of Spanish clubs to do better than they have been doing lately.

It's still basically a lock. I think all Italian clubs could crash out and we'd still be pretty likely to get the 5th spot.
How is it still a lock? Only the top 2 countries get 5 spots dont they?

Spain are more likely to get 5 spots with so many of their teams still competing for CL/EL

Milan big failure sso far, midfield is not working at all and attack is shit. Pavlovic is very good though, pity he was on the market and we didn't try

Spain loses a big 20/21 co-efficient year v a bad Italy co-efficient 20/21 year. Italy has 7/8 clubs still in UEFA competitions and has 4 more points than Spain currently. Spain has 6/7 clubs in competition still. The current system rewards multiple teams v 1-2 teams doing really good. This is why Real winning CL wouldn't do as much as previous versions of UEFA co-efficient.

To put that 4 point advantage in perspective, most of the top nations' top years are 19-21 total points. We're talking a 4 point advantage already with an additional club in the competition. Athletic, Girona, Real Betis, and Real Sociedad aren't doing better than Atalanta, Milan, Fiorentina, and Lazio.

Anyone remember there used to be a black „wonderkid“ playing for Celtic Glasgow. I think it was 2020 or so an he was 17 making his debut…. Can’t remember his name

5 CL spots are awarded to the top 2 countries for this season’s UEFA country coefficient.
Spain and Italy are neck and neck at the moment. England are way ahead and will almost certainly get that other spot.

I was looking at the rolling 5 years, my mistake.

Regardless, I still think its close now but not necessarily hard to Italy to take the 5th spot. Atalanta and Milan getting easy draws in the Knockout and fumbling wins is less than ideal. Roma got Porto but Lazio took #1 in Europa League. Likewise, in Conference league, Fiorentina took #3 spot and skipped the knockout phase while Betis drew Gent. I think Fiorentina and Lazio will do a lot of lifting for us. But these Milan/Atalanta results need to be reversed in the 2nd leg. They should beat these teams and advance and that will help to put some distance between Italy and Spain. Lost opportunity but we have more opportunities.

after tonights round of results, it's not looking good right, assuming worst case scenario milan and atalanta go out, and madrid progress?
