I still find it unfair that some teams have much more difficult draws than others when playing in a league format. Compare ours (very balanced) to Milan’s or Inters.
It happened in the group stages too, when there were groups of death and some piss easy groups. Until they decide to go for a superleague where everyone plays everyone, it's gonna remain unbalanced.
If this was the old format, our group could have been: City, Juve, Lille, Stuttgart. It also could have been Leipzig, Juve, PSV, Aston Villa. With the new format, we get a bit of both.
Some team will get very lucky with the draw, some very unlucky, but for most it will be a balanced draw.
The advantage with the new format is that you reduce the probability of being eliminated in December in a City, Juve, Lille, Stuttgart group due to one or two fuck-ups.

Inter were going to win yesterday because the English media were banging on about the time Arsenal beat them 5-1 in Italy, even spamming YouTube with that old match. You'd think that England would've learnt by now, but there you go.

The last group game is in January after the transfer window and in that time, some of these clubs could flip on form and injuries. It's too unpredictable right now.

I read the article too. It was billed as 'two teams at the peak of their powers' above the graphic - at the time Arsenal were bottom of their group with 4 points from 4 games, but it was their soon to be invincible team in the league. Whilst Inter started illuminaries such as Brechet, Lamouchi, van der Meyde and a smattering of other good but not so great players such as flop Cannnavaro and Cristiano Zanetti. This was peak meme era Inter before Farsopoli. It's mythology essentially because Arsenal have no CL history, and still don't to this day.

People tend to forget that Inter beat Arsenal 3 - 0 in the first game under Hector Cuper he was then fired and replaced by Zach and proceeded to lose 5 - 1. The loss was down to how terrible Zach rather than how great Arsenal were. In the same way how we lost to Fulham.

I agree with what he's saying about the format of the new CL though.
