Yeah. I don't know how do they calculate these things.
Once upon a time it was offside based on the position of the feet. Now they calculated Kane's position based on Emerson's head and Kane's feet. It's downright stupid.
VAR needs a clear set of rules.
So does the handball rule. I've been watching this sport for a few decades now and if someone asked me to explain the handball rule properly, I don't think I could anymore.
Half of the pens that are given for handball are way too harsh.

what happend? couldn't be bothered to watch any of the matches today
Kane had a goal ruled out for offside(last play of the game) that on the replay and in real time looked onside and the VAR referee calculeted the offside by taking into account Emerson's header (who played a deflected ball to Kean) and kean's foot(with which he scored the aparent winning goal).
I just don't understand why they didn't take into account Emerson's foot like they should and insted judged the play based on his head.

It used to be that you are judged offside if you have any part of the body that you can legally score with, in front of the defenders.
If you take that rule into account it's obvious onside.

It's so fucking dumb. He is clearly infront of Kane. He played the ball backwards and then the ball only went forward after it was deflected off the defender. It's a mess.

thanks guys

in that case it's the ball's position that counts so kane was offside judged by those lines

anyway, these millimetric offsides should be treated differently. i have no working solution, i just know that it takes the excitement away and makes no sense. i think we should implement an automatic system without human intervention to rule the position of the players. var ref and main ref might decide on whether a player was actively interfering with play or not, otherwise it should be automatic and much, much quicker. i don't want to see these lines, these are infuriating. i remember morata's half a dozen of similarly disallowed goals and it makes me wanna tear off the head of a teddy bear

Another VAR bullshit is disallowing goals for fouls that do not directly or even semi-directly lead to the goal. I remember it happened to us at least 2, 3 times. Sth like Butterfly Effect: Tevez's goal is invalid because Buffon is drinking water on the goal line.

I remember when VAR was first introduced, they disallowed a goal we scored against Atalanta because they judged Lichtsteiner to have fouled someone about 45 seconds before Mandzukic or whoever it was scored the winner.
