Chelsea players are definitely not mediocre but they have some players who are not that good and some excellent players.
Kante, Pulisic, Ziyech, Mount, Havertz while Giroud is an excellent team player.
What won Chelsea the CL are: 1. Strong midfield - Mount and Kante are both WC, 2. managing them correctly on their strength - Tuchel deserves the credit for doing it.

What won Chelsea the CL is actually what lost us the Scudetto if we think about it.

If you just look at footballing ability, Neymar is the only player of the last decade+ who is on the same level as Messi and Ronaldo. He's just lacks the fitness and mentality of those two. And by mentality I mean being professional and focused on the game. When it comes mentality on the pitch, Neymar is no slouch. His performance vs PSG in 2017 clearly demonstrates that.
