I'm not talking about just jokes here that are quite obviously jokes...I'm talking about discussing beliefs with more than just a hint of superiority in the poster's tone.

It's one thing to say "I don't believe in God," however when someone states "I don't believe in God and you lot who do have too much time on your hands" is where the discussion is not just criticism anymore...
That's it exactly....or the sense that some consider themselves superior because they don't believe in God-----the superiority that they claim my side has....

sorry i was papering. anyway lou is right the primary reason religion sucks these days is that its becoming more and more fundamentalist on each side. you have jerry fallwell and his friends saying there is a god and everyone else is gonna eat shit in the afterlife and then you have the athiest community rich educated people looking down on the people who believe in god. there is almost no gray area anymore. and therefore almost no room for discussion. and that sucks.

Greatest mind in the recorded history of man -

Leonardo da Vinci

gets my vote.
he was good. i like Rumsey the guy who invented the steam engine or at least brought it to the US. i think he stole it from the British which makes him like the anti james bond. 700?

True Enron. What I have been saying is that anybody who is convinced that their religion (or lack of religion) is the only correct religion then they are intolerant bastards who are indeed inferior to us enlightened ones who follow the true path :D.

But this thread is more about Burke taking a harmless joke and fooking it up because he was too drunk to get a woody.

I never said that:confused:

My point is that it is OK for non-believers to trash believers (at least here), but not the other way around.

But it is offensive. I'm not saying that it's the intention, but it comes across as "you-poor-ignorant-fool-you" and gets quite tiresome.

I don\t think any believer is offended by such a remark.

You need to get a grip, or failing that just get out more. If anything, tiresome would be when people act all high and mighty because they believe, and look down on others for not doing so despite there not being a shred of evidence that any god has ever existed.... but hey, I still don't get offended by it.
