Catania have failed to find consistency on their travels this season, obtaining one victory, five draws and four defeats from their ten encounters on the* road.
The Rossoazzurri began their away campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Genoa, who gunned down their visitors courtesy of a first half Palacio double.
A home draw against Juventus was followed up by Montella’s men clinching their first point away from Sicily. The 3-3 thriller saw the hosts come twice from behind before edging their noses in front with just five minutes remaining. But Gomez struck at the death to ensure a share of the spoils.
And the Rossoazzuri continued to make their point in the team’s next outing against Fiorentina. Delvecchio and Maxi Lopez responded to Jovetic’s double to secure a hard-earned draw.
Their third consecutive tie came against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. Klose’s first half strike was levelled up by Bergessio’s effort after the interval.
However, the Sicilians’ positive streak came to an abrupt halt against Milan. The Rossoneri ran riot in a sharp 4-0 victory with Ibrahimovic opening the floodgates after just seven minutes.
Yet victory soon followed in Lecce. Barrientos popped up at the death to snatch a priceless three points at the Via del Mare.
Catania continued their revival on the road by grinding out a useful point against Atalanta. Legrottaglie put them ahead in Bergamo, but Tiribocchi’s goal rescued a point for the hosts. Another draw followed against Parma. Lodi’s penalty and Catellani reduced a two-goal deficit to complete an impressive comeback.
Bologna brought an end to Catania’s useful run of results through two goals after the interval. It didn’t go any better in Udine, with Lodi’s last minute penalty proving too little too late.
Tomorrow’s visitors come into the game on good form after cruising to a 4-0 victory over Genoa last weekend. Lodi again netted from the spot, Barrientos hit a double and Bergessio grabbed goal number four.
