First-team coach Massimo Carrera spoke of the need for improvement after overseeing a 2-0 Bianconeri victory over Malaga.
While the club awaits the verdict of the current sporting trial in which assistant manager Angelo Alessio is also involved, Antonio Conte handed Carrera the reins in Salerno.
“This was the last opportunity before the Super Cup game to try things out,” said the 48-year-old. “I was a bit tense at the start but then I loosened up. I spoke to Conte at the end of the game, but only about the team’s performance. This evening’s test was important but we only showed flashes of what we know we’re capable of. We need to improve and help the new arrivals to blend in. There’s work to be done, but this needs to happen quickly because we’ll be facing Napoli within a week in a game we value greatly. We want to see a Juventus side capable of showing what they did last season as soon as possible.”
