"We came back from two goals down, you have to be happy with that. But now we must shift our focus back to Serie A." Massimo Carrera encapsulated the Juve mentality in those few words. Getting excited after a draw – even when the point was secured with an immense showing of willpower – is not really part of the Bianconeri DNA. Analysing the performance of individuals, bestowing praise on those who deserve it and identifying the difficulties encountered, is a far more worthwhile exercise.
Pirlo, for example, often found himself entangled in the web the Blues had prepared for him: "We expect teams to man-mark Andrea because he pulls the strings for us," Carrera commented. "But we have other solutions, like two centre-backs who can bring the ball out of defence and initiate moves."
As for the praise, how could Fabio Quagliarella not be mentioned? "He showed once again that Juve need everyone and that everyone is ready to do their bit when called upon. He took his goal superbly and he almost snatched a winner for us. It wasn't to be but we're happy because we played a great game and we were in it till the end."
