'Chiellini's contract may be invalid'
The Vice-President of the Italian Footballers' Association Leonardo Grosso believes Giorgio Chiellini's new Juventus contract might be invalid.

Chiellini's five-year deal worth €3.5m a season, which he penned last night, is quite revolutionary in that it includes clauses regarding the clothes he wears, his Twitter updates, and nightclub appearances.

However, Grosso insists that given the ongoing dispute regarding the players' collective bargaining agreement with the League, it might well be worthless and need doing all over again.

“The opinion of the Italian Olympic Committee's High Court of Justice underlined that new contracts should make reference to the old collective agreement, which expired on June 30 and that schemes pre-established by only one of the disputed parties [i.e the Lega or the AIC] could not be followed,” Grosso said.

He is just jealous because his sister Fabio had no similar renewals.

These are the same douche bags who were talking about human rights when they were threatening a strike at the beginning of the season. They can't do anything because Chiellini agreed to all these provisions (as any footballer making millions should do).

Given that the majority of the players represented by this union think they are rock stars and should be able to do w/e they please, they are worried that a big player at a big club has set a precedent that will eventually force all players to act like professionals.

Chiellini's contract 'pandemonium'

Giorgio Chiellini admits he didn’t expect the “pandemonium” over his contract renewal and wants to stay at Juventus beyond 2015.
The defender penned a new contract this week, but amid threats of strike action from the Players’ Association over the expired collective bargaining contract, some suggested his deal was invalid.

“I didn’t expect this pandemonium to break out, as there are no elements to my contract that are disputed by the Players’ Association and the Lega Calcio,” he told the Corriere dello Sport.

“In any case, I won’t think about it and in fact would like to think I’ll stay at Juventus beyond 2015.

“I also hope to have Alessandro Del Piero and Gigi Buffon as my teammates for a long time to come. I’m sorry that other members of the Old Guard have gone, but in football you know these things can happen.

“I was very pleased to renew the contract and it was what I wanted. I’m very tied to this jersey, partly because of all the things we’ve been through together.

“Now the objective is to win, though not necessarily right away, even if we mustn’t rule anything out.”

Tonight the Bianconeri welcome arch rivals Fiorentina, one of Chiellini’s former clubs.

“I played my first Serie A season with the Viola and it was a positive experience. At the time I played as a left-back after Walter Mazzarri had moved me to the centre at Livorno.

“At Juventus there was Federico Balzaretti, so then I played centre-back so we could both feature.

“I saw some recordings recently and I really have made a step up in quality in this position. I will never have the elegance of Thiago Silva, but I have man-marking skills that perhaps he’ll never have either.”
