Lippi is preparing for the world cup, of course he's going to use his best players who are fit
For 90 minutes nonetheless. Legrottaglie was on the bench. If Lippi could replace De Rossi, Pirlo, Borriello and Criscito at half time, he could have done the same with Chiellini. But no, right before a super important match against Fiorentina and a hell of a schedule following, he simply had to use the 2 Juve starters, one for full 90 minutes and the other one for 82 minutes.

Even if Giorgio's injury has only 1% to do with the 90 minutes played in mid-week, I will blame Lippi for the injury. He should stop using Juve as his playground.

This fucking sucks. We're going to lose so much with him. He's one of the 3 players that this team needs the most and clearly our leading force in defense. We're going to drop many points.

Conspiracy theories?

Does anyone think this injury is false? Chiellini was never rested and he's clearly going to lead Italy's defense at the WC. Maybe it's just a thing they are doing? And it goes same goes for Totti...maybe?

I don't think we can blame him if his best defender happens to play for Juventus. I don't think anyone here really believes that he is forcing Juventus to buy 3/4 of the Azzurri defense, there are clear people responsible for that.

Fair enough on the 90 minutes, but I wouldn't expect any national team coach to not call up important players.

Its not like Lippi is still trying to decide whether or not he should call chiellini up. He already knows he is calling him up. So why not take that opportunity to use a youngster you might be considering for the WC.

Knowing some teams are in critical positions in the league, he should start using more youngsters and integrate them in these friendlies.

That was the last international friendly of the season. Next stop, World Cup.

Right! :agree: But I doubt if anyone forced him to fit Juventus defenders even in friendlies...

We're gonna be completely fucked up without Chiellini. Our defense would be sth undescribable: Zebina[Grygera]-Cana-Legro-DC[Grosso] :sergio:

DC is good, but he lacks some defensive abilities. We can mostly depend on his forward runs on left wing...So I'd rather Grosso for LB.
Though I believe DC tries very hard, but his lack of experience might ruin everything...
All Zebina usually does is just horsing around the pitch and I doubt if that shit will help the squad...

Legro does a job,but his lack of intelligence means he simply has NO part in a genuine top-class central defender...
Cana is not bad,but he's simply too old and slow in retreats. So if the opponent team get a counter attack,no one would be there to clear...
Another point is that both of them [Legro-Cana] are good while they have Giorgio beside 'em...But if we have no Giorgio in the area, there'll be no one else to save their asses...

Where the hell is our beloved Super Moli?? We need him in such a critical situation ...I missed the guy! :D

All the more reason to play some players you still aren't 100% convinced about yet. We all know Chiellini will be in SA, he doesn't need one pointless friendly for Lippi to decide. He should be worried about who will be the best bench players possible. IMO that is what that friendly should have been for. Just like the youngsters he brought up for midfield.

What youngsters in midfield?

These are the midfielders from the squad for the Cameroon game:

Gennaro Gattuso (age 32)
Andrea Pirlo (age 30)
Daniele De Rossi (age 26)
Angelo Palombo (age 28)
Simone Pepe (age 26)
Riccardo Montolivo (age 25)
Claudio Marchisio (age 24)
Andrea Cossu (age 29)

I meant youngster. I thought that Andrea Cossu, was same age as claudio.

Any who, youngsters or not, the purpose of the friendly should have been for new blood...the lower end of the national team roster for backups.
