Chiellini's remarkable recovery
Giorgio Chiellini could be back in action by mid-September – a month ahead of schedule – from his knee injury.
The Juventus defender feared he’d be out for the whole season when he badly sprained his knee with ligament damage during the Trofeo Berlusconi against Milan on August 18.
Even with the good news from the tests, he was thought to be sidelined for at least 45 to 60 days, but he took part in training today and could be ready within a couple of weeks.
“I prefer to be a little cautious with regards to my condition,” said Chiellini.
“I got quite a scare at the Trofeo Berlusconi. I’m improving now and started running again. We’ll see how it goes when I start kicking the ball.
“I watched the game with Fiorentina and it’s a shame about the draw when we thought the points were already in the bag. Never mind, I saw a good Juve performance.”
Pavel Nedved had given the Bianconeri the lead at the Stadio Franchi on Sunday night, but after Felipe Melo’s dismissal the 10-man Viola equalised through Alberto Gilardino.
