I think Donadoni should give Cannavaro's starting CB position directly to Chiellini as a way to inspire Chiellini and for Chiellini himself to prove a point as he did injure him albeit accidentally.. Canna's career has just taken a wrong turn now and unfortunately this could be the beginning of the end for him

Cassano & Chiellini Kiss & Makeup
Antonio Cassano and Giorgio Chiellini have buried the hatchet following yesterday’s explosive training ground spat.
Cassano went berserk during the Azzurri’s training session in Austria, reacting furiously to a fair tackle from Chiellini.

The Sampdoria man then made a number of rude gestures at the Juve defender, and reportedly goaded him about the challenge he made on Tuesday that forced Fabio Cannavaro out of the tournament with an injury.

Cassano and Chiellini (pictured above) have now kissed and made up over the incident, and were spotted hugging during this morning’s training session.

Cassano also had a lengthy conversation with Coach Roberto Donadoni, covering his mouth up in trademark fashion so that the press couldn’t lip-read what he was saying.

News of Cassano and Chiellini’s reconciliation is welcome news to the Azzurri team, who are still coming to terms with the loss of their inspirational captain Cannavaro.

No idea why Chiellini will not start. He's ten times better than Barzagli without a doubt.

But I guess nobody here cares because they're too caught up in the greatness of the biggest team in the world... the AZZURRI!

But yeah, fools will support the Wolfsburg moron because he's the next NESTA!

Go Holland.

Holland will tear Italy apart. There's no way Panucci can catch up with Babel and Huntelaar will have a field day against Materazzi and Barzagli. Giorgio is the man to mark him, just like he has marked Ibrahimobitch.

Babel is out of the Euros and Robben won't play tonight .. I wonder if their left flank is good enough to over pass that lousy Romanista ..

It is excellent news that Chiellini will not feature tonight in the game, such a big advantage for Oranje.

Chiellini Set For New Contract
According to Tuttosport, Juventus hardman Giorgio Chiellini is set to pledge his long-term future to the club by signing a new contract.Chiellini was one of the Bianconeri’s outstanding performers last season, and was a rock at the centre of the defence after transforming from his natural left back position.

The 23-year-old made 30 Serie A appearances, scoring three goals, and has developed into a real fan’s favourite.

Chiellini is now set to be rewarded for his efforts with a new contract until 2012, which will net him €2m a-season, double of what he currently earns.

Negotiations are already well underway, and it is believed that the stopper could put his final signature at the bottom of the treaty within the next 10 days.

The former Fiorentina star, who is currently on duty with Italy at Euro 2008, came mightily close to leaving the club last summer.

Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco had set up a move for him to join Sven-Goran Eriksson at Manchester City, but the deal fell through in the latter stages. Chiellini is now being tipped as the future captain of the Old Lady.

    Chiellini to sign new deal
    Thursday 12 June, 2008

Giorgio Chiellini is set to be rewarded for his efforts last season with a new improved contract at Italian giants Juventus.

The former Livorno stopper was a revelation for the Old Lady in 2007-08 after he was sensationally transformed from a left-back into an accomplished central defender.

Those performances were enough for him to net the Euro 2008 call and cement his place in the future plans of La Vecchia Signora.

Chiellini’s agent, Davide Lippi – son of Marcello – met Juve officials yesterday where an agreement in principal was agreed.

“We’re almost there,” Lippi junior told Sky Italia. “There are just a few details to resolve, but we are very happy. Juventus are in Giorgio’s heart.”

The former Under-21 international captain will reportedly commit his future to the club until June 2012. In exchange, he will allegedly have his present £700,000 a season salary doubled.

Chiellini, who was involved in the training ground incident, which ruled Fabio Cannavaro out of Euro 2008, is yet to make an appearance at the European Championship.

However, there is a chance that he may make his debut against Romania on Friday evening as Roberto Donadoni looks to re-jig his central defensive options.

Chiellini, who was wanted by Manchester City last summer, joined Juventus in 2004 but spent his first campaign on loan at Fiorentina.

Good stuff i would like to see him sign the new contract asap :)
from being loaned out to Fiorentina, then coming back to play in Serie B, then almost being sold to Man City, to our leading CB and possible future captain, and being called up to Italian NT, its been a rollercoaster ride for Giorgio!

im very happy he is renewing with us..
