Juventus coach Fabio Capello admits he was upset with the approach of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic after Tuesday night's 3-0 win over Rapid Vienna.

"Ibrahimovic made two mistakes and we will discuss it later, as he was too egotistical," rapped Capello.

The Swede has often been accused of hogging the ball and he twice refused to pass the ball to a team-mate in a better scoring position.

"I really didn't appreciate when we went on the counter-attack with three against two and Alessandro Del Piero unmarked, but instead of passing it he tried to hold on and eventually lost the ball."

Yesterday, Ibra accepted Capello's criticism: "Capello explained to me I had to be less egotistical. I accept that. I was happy with my goal, but the important thing is that the team won."

Juventus striker David Trezeguet has defended teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic over claims he was too selfish in Tuesday night's 3-0 win over Rapid Vienna.

Boss Fabio Capello was annoyed by the Swede's selfish play at times, as he looked for his first Champions League goal since his arrival in 2004.

But Trezeguet insists that goal droughts are problematic periods for a forward to continue playing in.

"If a striker doesn't score then he has just one thought in his head and that is that he wants to find a goal," the Frenchman stated. "He therefore sees things a little differently."

The former Monaco striker netted his 101st goal for the club on Tuesday, before being joined on the score sheet by Adrian Mutu and then Ibrahimovic.

"We didn't play that great at the start of the game as we were a little tired from the Parma trip," added Trezeguet.

"But Mutu and Zlatan managed to get their first goals in Europe for us and this is very important for the rest of the season."

He just needs to mature a little more. But I would always play Zlatan too if I was the coach. I would rotate all three of them (Trez, Zlatan, Del Piero) equally.

    Ideal solution for this problem:

    Nedved-----------Vieira--------------Emerson-------------Mutu
    --------------Del Piero------------------------Zlatan--------------

Give Zlatan a player who knows what he wants to do. Someone who knows Zlatan`s next step and can help him when needed --> Mutu. They combined perfectly in the Rapid game and should really start. Dp on the other hand looks very sharp and desperatly deserves a starting shirt.

yes, Camo is playing a great season.

I think Capello has to punish Zlatan, sending him to the bench against Inter, and play with Del Piero and Trezegut in the front

OFF TOPIC: Nothing ever amazes me.

Juventus snubbed Cassano offer Thursday 29 September, 2005

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus chief operating officer Antonio Giraudo has revealed that his club rejected the chance to sign Roma’s Antonio Cassano this summer.

The Italian starlet was expected to join the Bianconeri as his current contract expires in June 2006.

But the player remained in the capital, even if Giraudo has told the Corriere dello Sport newspaper that they could have netted him.

"We approached Roma about Amantino Mancini, however they told us he was untransferable," Giraudo stated.

"Roma offered us Cassano instead, but we already had five attackers and just couldn’t allow his arrival."

One man who the club did successfully poach from Roma was boss Fabio Capello in the summer of 2004.

The tactician instantly delivered the title even if Giraudo has conceded that their swoop for the tactician was not planned.

"We were thinking about Didier Deschamps and a few young Italian Coaches (Cesare Prandelli)," explained the official.

"We were then told that Fabio wanted to leave Roma and that he would be pleased to join us here.

"I immediately informed Umberto Agnelli and he told me to not waste any time in signing him. It has proved to be a good decision."

he will punish Juve then, you can't waste that talent for a match like this, anyway I think Zlatan got the message clearly, and he already apologized for that

all the players must understand that they arent irreplaceable,
i dont think he will sub him either,
    but this was a warning
    and warning made publically known,
if Zlatan goes the same he might risk to take the red card,
    off the starting team....

    he is joung,he will learn...

it's a big problem that he did'nt pass for Alex?if you ask me NO,if trezeguet was there or Alex they would have score for sure and none of this would happen,I can't explain why Ibra can score only superb&incredible goals and when he has to make a simple shot misses almost everytime,he's to childish maybe or can't concentrate ,the pressure is to high for him :p

    Interesting point of view,
most of the people blame Zlatan for the pass wich could secure the goal
and forget to give him the blame for a rather easy miss of the target comparing to the one he actually scored

I wouldn't keep Camo out of the starting line up though, Alex. This is Camo's peaking year.
True. However, I said in another thread, that Capello should always put Mutu with either Nedved or Camo on the field. Depense on their form.

I think its quite funny that people are talking harsh about Zlatan. He scored a goal and gave a great pass to Zambro for the Trez goal. He could have scored more, but I think he simply needs another guy who prefers his style of play and who understands his moves. Mutu is someone like this and IMO Zlatan became much better with Mutu on the field.

Juventus captain Alessandro del Piero and striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic held clear-the-air talks yesterday after a bust-up during the Champions League clash with Rapid Vienna.
Ibrahimovic's play on the night drew angry criticism from coach Fabio Capello, who branded the Swede as "egotistical". Del Piero was also unimpressed and let Ibrahimovic know his feelings in the dressing room after the game.

However, yesterday the pair spoke and agreed to put the row behind them. Del Piero was impressed by Ibrahimovic's public acknowledgement of his mistakes on Wednesday afternoon.
