Category: General

Fabio Capello has responded to the latest speculation suggesting he will join Real Madrid by committing himself to Juventus.

Reports in Spain are gathering pace that either Capello or Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti will be poached by the Liga giants in the summer.

However, after Ancelotti last night suggested that he wants to remain where he is, Capello has now done the same.

“I’m very happy at Juventus,” the former Italian international midfielder is quoted as saying on Thursday.

“It is my idea to continue coaching for three more years and I still have a contract with Juventus. We’ll see what happens at the end of that agreement.”

Capello’s current Bianconeri deal is due to expire in the summer of 2007, just like Ancelotti’s at Milan.

The latter is believed to be a serious contender given that his brand of football is more attractive than that of his Serie A colleague.

But Capello has looked to defend himself from jibes that his success comes as a consequence of his alleged prudent tactics.

“My teams have always scored a lot of goals and conceded few,” continued the man who has been at the top of Serie A ever since he quit Roma 18 months ago.

“I also want to remind people that when I was at Real Madrid I played with Suker, Mijatovic, Raul, Seedorf, Victor and Roberto Carlos – they are hardly defensive players.

“The only ball-winner was Redondo and in that season we scored a record number of goals. Perhaps the Spanish don’t have good memories.”

Meanwhile, there are a number of contrasting reports in the media today which claim Capello will be off to Real.

The tactician, who is said to be keen on having director general Luciano Moggi follow him to Madrid, will allegedly be replaced by current England boss Sven Goran Eriksson in Turin.

Source: Football Italia

as a person who's implying that he'll stay at juventus he surely tries hard to persuade the spanish that he isn't as defensive and that would be rather better than ancelotti.

anyway, mr. fabio "i'd never coach juventus" capello is known to be a man of his word :D

We are! Not as fluent as we were before christmas. Our form has dipped. Hopefully it'll pick up before the Arsenal game.

Capello has been always repeating that he wont leave us untill his contract expires,
(next year), he never said he will leave for any reason other than
the managers change...
