Category: General

Fabio Capello insists that his Juventus side plays beautiful football, but can be tough when necessary, such as in the 1-0 win at Sampdoria.
“This was a tough Juve performance, as we knew how to suffer under pressure and then emerge with some beautiful football at the right time,” explained the Coach after their 10th away victory of the season in Serie A. “Samp were in good condition and only a great show from us would get a result here.”
The Blucerchiati had the better of the first half and rattled the frame of the goal with Sergio Volpi’s free kick, but Pavel Nedved’s header proved decisive.
“They were very aggressive early on, while we took control after the break and could’ve scored more than one. Our secret is knowing when to push and when to soak up pressure.”
Milan’s 3-0 victory over Empoli had temporarily closed the gap, but it remains at 10 points ahead of next week’s showdown at the Delle Alpi.
“We have to focus on our own progress and not look at the other results,” maintained Capello. “There’s a long way to go yet and it would be futile to count the points now.”
The ex-Roma Coach was also pleased to hear that his former prodigy Antonio Cassano had scored his first goal for Real Madrid.
“He is a world class player and football needs people like Cassano. I’m glad he found the net and made room for himself in the Madrid side.”
Sampdoria boss Walter Novellino suffered a third straight defeat and was again cursing his team’s finishing skills.
“We are a little distracted on Nedved’s goal and should’ve been more cynical, but the real problem is that we create a great deal and can’t seem to make those chances count,” said the Coach.

Source: Football Italia
