:agree:

He is more of a league coach rather than a elimination tournament one. We saw it with Juve. He easily won us two Scudetti but he failed in the CL. In the year after, he won La Liga with Real but his team got eliminated form the CL too early.
I think what he did with As roma is bigger than his achievement with both Juve and Madrid. Winning them the league title after 20 years of not winning it is a pretty big achievement.

Cappello is definitely one of the best but still i'd rather have many names before him this time around (del neri is not one of them).

You would take him over Del Neri any day, but guess what? Don Crapello wouldn't come to Juve because he's afraid and he knows that what he's got at his disposal isn't 100% guaranteed title pocket.

Capello only signs for clubs that out of 23 players, got 15 top world class players.

I like coaches who aren't afraid and are ready to face and challenge and work on a project, Capello isn't a gambler unlike Lippi, Mourinho, Ferguson, Ancelotti.
That didn't make much sense.

Lippi -look at his career, Mourinho-look at the money of the teams he has had since Portugal , Ferguson-risk taker!, Ancelotti look at his career.

    Roma, Rab?

And his Real side was way inferior to Barca.
If you consider Antonioli, Cafu, Aldair, Zebina, Samuel, Candella, Zanetti, Assuncao, Emerson, Nakata, Montella, Totti, Batistuta, Delvecchio.... if you consider them average players then we're not on the same line.

    What about Lippi's career?

Mourinho? Look what a project he had at Inter and what he achieved. Those clowns never won a CL trophy since my father's highschool graduation time and Mourinho challenged everyone and won that trophy. Let alone Porto.

Ancelotti? He gambled with aging players and still won the CL.

They were very good/good players but their quality was NOWHERE near that of Juve, Milan or Inter players.

As quality players, they were above both Milan and Inter and slightly on par with Juve. Maybe below Juve but there's no way Inter and Milan had a better squad than them.

We are not on the same line then.

Vieiri, Ronaldo, Zamorano, Seedorf, Cordoba, Zanetti, Blanc, Panucci, Di Biagio.

Dida, Shevchenko, Bierhoff, Boban, Ambrosini, Gattuso, Albertini, Serginho.

van der Sar, Zambrotta, Birindelli, Tudor, Montero, Ferrara, Tacchinardi, Zidane, Davids, Conte, Inzaghi, Trezeguet, Del Piero, Kovacevic.

he was a very good choice to help us do well in the league now that we are not even playing in the CL. I'd take him over Del Neri any day.
It's surprisingly strange to see someone with that username of yours praising Capello in this forum. :D

Inter: Seedorf was anything but a player back then. Zamorano was past it. Blanc? Are you serious? Still Roma looked way more solid team by names.

Milan: Only Sheva and maybe Serginho back then. The rest were still no way on par with Roma's 2001.

Juventus: Obviously we were not weaker than them.

I don't like him either but saying he won't coach a team unless he is sure that he will win the title is a little bit strange and may apply to almost any top coach.

Ranieri will always be a loser, no doubt about that. He had a team as good at that one in his last year with Chelsea yet he finished 2nd just like he'll do in a damn good day. I can't believe we're even comparing the two. Capello screwed up this time and God knows how many times but to put him on level with Ranieri is a blasphemy.

Oh and Capello didn't exactly have Chellini at his best :D
in all fairness to ranieri,it took an Arsenal side that went the whole season unbeaten to take the title away from Chelsea that year,if it had not been for taht freak season we may all look at Ranieri ina different light.

    still sucked with us though

as for capello, the worry for England was always his stubborness,he feels that he is above reproach and his teams have a history of capitulating to teams that play pacy football on the break. when plan A does not work he generally resorts to throwing much more of the same at the problem and looking the one-paced coach much of us seen in the Champions League.

But guys -- before you laugh too hard at Crapello -- let's not forget he was our last coach as a Scudetto champion, with no horizon in sight for when that might be again.
