I'm reading an interview with Hector Cuper in Gazzetta and it's really annoying to read how those guys involved with Inter in 2002 can't stop moaning.
Now Cuper knows what was the reason they didn't win the scudetto in 2002.
No, it wasn't the incompetence of his players-chokers, it wasn't Vratislav Gresko, it wasn't Karel Poborsky.
It was, imagine this, the ref who didn't give a penalty over Ronaldo in Inter's match against Chievo. Apparently, the ref was only 3 metres away from the happenings but he didn't give what was according to Cuper, a clear penalty. This is what decided the scudetto.
He's talking about a match of the 32nd round where Chievo held Inter to a 2:2 draw, with Cossato scoring the equaliser in 90 minute. (again, it's not Inter's incompetence. They fight for the scudetto and they concede a goal in last minute. No, it's the refs. The big bad refs)
They are all such cry babies.
Every single team can claim that a penalty against them wasn't given on a certain match during the season. Should every single team name that as a reason for not winning the scudetto ?
But then again, not everyone lost the tittle to a team that was later relegated to serie B for "match fixing".
Here's the interview:
