Sacchi: Inter Are Like The 'Juve Of Moggi’
Former Milan and Italy Coach Arrigo Sacchi has slammed the refereeing from Inter’s match with Reggina on Saturday, describing the Nerazzurri as being like the “Juve of Moggi”.
This Serie A season has been littered with refereeing errors, many of them seeming to be benefiting Inter and penalising the likes of Juventus and Milan.
Indeed last month the Gazzetta dello Sport printed a revised table of where all the Serie A teams would be if no mistakes had been made.
Juve topped the table, having lost 12 points to rivals Inter due to errors. Since this report there was the controversial defeat to Reggina, which led the Bianconeri to write an open letter of complaint to the Italian Football Federation.
At the weekend there was more controversy during Inter’s match with Reggina at San Siro.
With the scores goalless, and Inter struggling, Esteban Cambiasso was fouled a few yards outside the box, only for the referee to award a penalty.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the spot-kick, and Inter went on to win 2-0, causing a furious reaction from Reggina President Lillo Foti.
"I never speak about the referees but on Saturday was old-style refereeing that I absolutely did not like,” said former Milan great Sacchi.
“We seemed to see the Juve of Moggi. Sadly in our country the small teams always get punished in situations of doubt.”
Luciano Moggi was the former general manager of Juventus, who was suspended from football for five years in 2006 for his alleged involvement in the Calciopoli crisis.
