Before people go off commenting on today’s news I want to clarify a few things.
Moggi has been sentenced to little more than a year with his son in prison. People who know nothing of calciopoli will think that these are the same trials and in their ignorance will think that he is going to jail for being a “cheat”. Far from it.
He, his son, and all of GEA in fact were again absolved of player/coach monopolization much like in the initial trial which concluded in October of 2007.
What they were charged with was making comments deemed threatening during the initial trial (when Moggi was already well out of football).
Journalists are already saying that the sentence will be very difficult to uphold under appeal which is set to begin right away. Odds are he won’t serve a day but whether he does or not is of little relevance to Juventus or Calciopoli related appeals.
