Let's hope that this "Bye bye Canna" thread turns out much like the immortal "Bye bye Milan" thread at the end of the '04-'05 season. :agree:

(Sorry to bring up such bad memories, Rami. :p)

spainish newspaper said canna already has decided on the move to real

(Jul 17, 2006)
Cannavaro Joins Former Coach at Real Madrid

MADRID, SPAIN Italy's World Cup-winning captain and Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro has decided to sign with Real Madrid next season, a Spanish newspaper reported yesterday.

Cannavaro called former Juventus and current Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello, and told him he will play for the Spanish powerhouse, the sports daily AS said.

The 32-year-old defender, widely considered one of the top players at the World Cup in Germany, has also been targeted by Chelsea and Italian powerhouse AC Milan, say other media.

Several Juventus players are said to be seeking moves to other clubs.

Real Madrid has not won a trophy in three years, despite a glittering lineup that boasts players like Ronaldo and David Beckham.

They didn't say anything about the price.

I do wish that were true, but there is little to suggest they'd stay now. Cannavaro's given us all he could, and though it pains me to say this he does deserve better than Juventus. Even if he is leaving for Madrid.

And since they are ontractually bound to the club, the players would have to play.

But you know that Juve are going to make Real pay some sick change to get them.

..

I dont think we'll get any more than 5 million Euro's for an almost 33 year old defender. From Canna's point of view, it would be stupid from him stay, because by the time we're back in Serie A, he'd probably quit football. Therefore, it understandable from him to request a transfer in order to achieve something in his last playing years, instead of helping Juve to get promotion with no silverware to his name.
