Can they hold off Leverkusen? I dont know. This schedule is going to be brutal for Bayern vs a Leverkusen team out of the Champions League, and Wirtz likely returning in the near future.

If they get past Inter in the Champions League, I think they're going to get slaughtered by Barca. Their back line will get shredded after losing the pace of Upamecano and Davies. Yamal/Raphinha against Guerreiro/Laimer will be an absolute bloodbath 1 v 1 and balls played into space.

When you talk about all time club icons, this is what you mean. Born and bred to play for Bayern, will play his entirety of a career in Europe with 1 club, winning everything you can from a team perspective.

I think he'll get his statue eventually. And I really hope he decides to retire so he can stay as a one club man. As you said, these are so rare in todays football.

Right now a statue of Beckenbauer is being created and should be revealed next to the one of Gerd Müller at the end of the year. I imagine next in line will be Sepp Maier, then perhaps Karl Heinz Rummenigge as well at some point.

Gerd Müller, Beckenbauer and Sepp Maier are the cornerstones from the golden generation of the 60's/70's. They should all be put together outside of the Allianz Arena.

I'm SHOCKED that Beckenbauer doesn't have a statue already. I thought they'd have an entire shrine for him (and Gerd Muller).

I'm not a big fan of immediate tributes. For Thomas Muller, I think a statue is deserved, but I wouldn't do anything immediately. I'm talking 10+ years down the road. Let his retirement breathe.

I never understand takes like this. What do you want him to do, sign with Stuttgart for 30% of what he's making at Bayern?

No one in their right mind would leave a top job making a shitload of money for a worse job and significantly less money.

Well, when they extended him, he was playing like Rafinha at Barcelona under Flick. He was a goal scoring difference maker in his prime that Bayern couldn't afford to lose.

Then he got paid, got fat, got injured, and became unreliable. He's still an ok player, but his career has fallen off a cliff compared to 4 to 5 years ago.

It's almost like Chiesa post ACL. We still saw flashes, but he wasn't the same guy as when he was playing with Ronaldo, or helping Italy win the Euros.

I dont know. For me personally, I always like seeing the top players playing for a club in their country.

Harry Kane at Bayern still feels weird for me.

I hate TAA leaving Liverpool for Real Madrid.

I hate Tonali leaving Milan to play for a 2nd tier club in England. Or seeing Donnarumma at PSG. I wish those guys played in Italy.

Some guys like Mbappe almost get too big for it and have to make that move to a club like Real Madrid, but he at least gave PSG a good, long run before making the move.

Would you really rather see Wirtz go play the next decade at City? I'd rather he play at Bayern.

I hope it works out where Leverkusen sells him to Bayern for a massive price, and are able in reinvest that money to bring in some of the great young talent in Germany. It sounds like Ibrahim Maza is on his way there. He's an interesting talent. They could sell him and do what we should have done after selling Pogba, rather than buying Higuain (and then Ronaldo shortly after).
