Van Gaal explains Toni feud
By Football Italia staff

Louis van Gaal claims he dropped Luca Toni when he coached Bayern Munich for “goofing around too much at breakfast” and acting 'disrespectfully’.

Toni scored 38 times in 60 appearances for Bayern between 2007 and 2010, but just one of his goals came in his final season as he was jettisoned by Van Gaal, before joining Roma on loan.

“I pulled his ears because he’d goof around too much at breakfast,” the Dutchman told Bild.

“He was disrespectful to me and his teammates. Things like this in a team aren’t acceptable.

“For me, there’s a sacred rule: the team are more important than the individual.”

Its probably true. Van Gaal is a crazy motherfucker though.

I have balls
Van Gaal has mellowed with age somewhat, but not entirely. At Bayern Munich, one of the most bizarre of his outbursts occurred early in the successful 2009/10 season. Striker Luca Toni, who was sold by the club in the summer of 2009, detailed the following incredible anecdote:

“The coach wanted to make clear to us that he can drop any player, it was all the same to him because, as he said, he had the balls. He demonstrated this literally by dropping his trousers. I have never experienced anything like it, it was totally crazy. Luckily, I didn’t see a lot, because I wasn’t in the front row”.

I remember it very well. Toni was hanging around at the table..dont know the perfect English word for it..u know half lying on a chair and Louie pulled his ear. It was prob the last nail in the coffin of their relationship and LT wanted to leave because of him ASAP. Nothing spectacular here, just a typical van Gaal..discipline and good manners r crucial to him.

Great goal by Tolisso.

Bayern 20 points ahead, playing away against some fodder, show up all guns blazing

we are truly the Montolivo of teams
lel. We'd more points, more goals scored, less goals conceded at the 25 game mark. Not our fault Bundesliga doesn't have an equivalent of Napoli.

Not to mention the fact that we have never been more prolific in Serie A (so far) than this season.

Is that supposed to be some sort of point? :shifty: Having somebody breathe down your neck and still dragging your feet is supposed to make it better, that you have the attitude of doing the barest minimum, that you have to lay down arms after every opening goal ever? That you get so used to stopping playing that it turns into an automatism but since you are not playing Sassuolo but Tottenham you eat 2 goals and proceed to get fucked till the final whistle? Compelling story bru. I am not asking for flashy attacking football but let's not pretend losing control of a game is le smart italien calcio okay
