If it had been me I'd have looked at the squad, the market opportunities and who we could get Motta to bring with him from Bologna.
With the objective of CL in five years in mind, I'd have looked to secure the back four and GK for this cycle ASAP by signing MdG (presuming Carnesecchi not available) and going absolutely all in on Calafiori from Bologna. Add one fullback (idk who) and that's our defence ready for a CL trophy. What we did get is MdG and a fullback probably not at CL level, with us chasing another CB (likely not CL level) and probs Danilo to play FB.
We needed two strong CMs including one with a hell of an engine. Willing to bet Ferguson was to be that guy but injury meant no. So we got Luiz and Thuram. I don't know them but people seem generally happy so that's good I guess.
If we're to do wingers I'd have decided that keeping Chiesa is a priority and to explain to him that if he hits x targets he gets the pay rise he wants, that we want to keep him but can't justify the numbers he's asking for. We consider Yildiz a starter (maybe a bit of a gamble, but in a solid team and opponents having to worry about Chiesa on the other side he'd have plenty of scope to grow).
So then we need a 3/4 still. At this point we've spent the budget so we look to sell and offload what we can and get the best mf we can for the role. I'd probably have sold Soulé for this purpose too. Doesn't seem like he really wanted to stay tbh.
Dusan obviously our guy, and it's made clear to him that we back him 100%, have created a team which will allow him to flourish but that he needs to deliver like he did when he first arrived. If not he will be sold next year.

Instead we've done half of this and then got stuck in the weeds of selling our shite, and have ended up reenforcing the bench more than the first team. Disappointing but we have added some pieces to our CL winning XI....while probably losing one in Chiesa

So.. With Kalulu our defense remains meh but it seems Motta likes Cabal so I guess our back 4 will be Cabal Bremer Gatti Cambiasso; Thuram D.Luiz; Yildiz Koop N.G; Vlahovic
Kalulu will replace Gatti or play as RB LB or whatever positions he can cover - I dont expect him to be a starter CB so I guess Gatti is our starter.
So defense isnt great which could provide problems against stronger teams.
Midfield - We did good as we are well covered and finally also with quality.
Attack - Koop will provide great linkup to attack while Yildiz and N.G would create danger in opposition area. and then there is Vlahovic and how he will perform.
I think a solid 2nd is achievable if we mask our defensive weakness well enough. Otherwise we will fight for top 4.
Of course actual signings rather than positive meetings are required first...

Pretty much. I just wanna see more from Thuram and less of Locatelli - I used to really rate Locatelli but Thuram currently have more potential to develop.
Now if we get Sancho it will provide some serious competition for a place on the team - I just hope that if we get him, he will be more of a team player I think he is.

I am curious about Conceicao - no-one seems to have him in the starting line-up. He and Nico are best on the right although of the two I think Nico adapts better to the left. I see Nico as a Vice Vlahovic option too - so many of his goals are from well within the box - many of them headers.
Yildiz looks better in the centre but that will be Koop's natural position so I am not sure what the starting line up will be. Lets face it, even with a limited squad Motta surprised everyone in his team selection in the first 2 games. My gut feel is that the line-ups we have in mind could very well be totally wrong.
