Gigi Buffon has moved to allay any fears surrounding his availability for Saturday’s Super Cup final against Napoli.
The goalkeeper felt a twinge in the warm-up ahead of last weekend’s friendly victory over Malaga, but insists his absence against the Spanish outfit was a mere precaution.
Speaking from the Hublot sponsorship event, the 34-year-old said: “After turning 30 it’s normal to have certain aches and pains during the first two weeks of preparation. Your body needs to get back into the swing of things. Now I feel better, I’ve started to train again, so the problem’s gone away.”
Gigi also confirmed that the Bianconeri will be going all out to lift their first silverware of the campaign on Saturday.
“I feel fine when I’m on the pitch with my team-mates, that’s my strength,” he concluded. “I know that nothing or nobody can ever affect me. We’ve currently got an important target in front of us, we want to put on a good show and win this cup – it means a lot to us.”
