Gigi Buffon was as honest as ever when asked for his analysis on tonight’s defeat to Inter.
The goalkeeper believes the Bianconeri’s deep defensive line played into the visitors’ hands and allowed the Nerazzurri to claim their first victory in Turin since January 2008.
Speaking after the final whistle, Buffon said: “We did well enough to get an early goal and had a decent grip on the game for the first quarter of an hour, looking to double our lead. Then we stepped off a little too much and perhaps looked a little shaky in defence, dropping deep onto the edge of our penalty area. At that point, especially given the quality of their players, they can manage to hit the target.”
The 34-year-old remains confident Juventus can taste victory when Nordsjaelland travel to Juventus Stadium on Wednesday night.
“We’ve got the opportunity to get back to winning ways on Wednesday night. Being on the losing side is also part of sport and, as much as it certainly doesn’t give us pleasure, we must know how to deal with it.”
