Marotta cant close a deal for shit. So instead of getting an actual good CB and tying the deal up ASAP, we are left to panic buy either Gastaldello or fucking Astori at the last minute . We are better off promoting another one of our Primavera products then wasting money on either of those two.

Pretty much. But it was clear we needed an experienced, solid and technical CB to partner Chiello and Marotta had 3 months to find one but has (so far) failed to do so. This all comes down to his incessant penny pinching and trying to do deals on "his terms".

There is two days left in the window and it's going to be extremely difficult to strike a deal for an Alves - who is the last good target left.

Marotta shouldn't be trying to secure crucial positions at the last moment; we have very little leverage or time in these type of last minute negotiations. Other teams aren't going to want to give away crucial components of their teams, when they have such a small window to find suitable replacements. In our current situation, we'll usually have to overpay at this time of the year if we want to strike deals for important players.

If were not gonna bring in a good, experienced defender (read Alves) we are better off waiting for January and signing Rhodolfo, if the rumours of him being available in Jan are to be believed.
