Perhaps if the story had taken a different turn after Gus's elimination...but with how the story developed after than point, I'm not sure they could better it, specially considering this final season will only have 8 episodes.

1. It's not a new season, it's still Season 5, just part 2.

2. 8 episodes are more than enough to create a crazy, mind-blowing finale.

I don't know about "epic" -- some have rightfully pointed out that the series could have ended last season. But the new season has been worthy. I'm looking for them to conclude storylines. Epic? Not so much.
