Brazil are set to play an exhibition match in Lebanon in October in order to help the war-damaged nation get back on its feet.

The five-time World Champions have penciled in a date of October 10 for the Beirut clash after their date in Kuwait scheduled for October 7.

Earlier in the week, the President of the South American nation Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called upon the team to head to Lebanon.

"The national team goes to Kuwait, why can't we play a game in Lebanon for peace?" Silva said.

"Lebanon needs help from the Brazilian national team. Who says that the national team cannot play a game to symbolise peace?"

The Brazilian ambassador to the Middle-Eastern nation subsequently contacted the Lebanese FA to asked for a formal request.

That would be a great match. It's great to see such a team like Brazil in our homeland. Too bad World Champions can't take part of this aswell.

Hopefully, It'll turn out to be an entertaining game. I expect around 75.000 fans in (Madine l Riyadeye) Stadium.

I also heard Zidane will be part in this game and will be playing with the Lebanese NT. However, these stars Kaka, Ronnie, Ronaldo etc should come, It's them who can bring out the fans.

Too bad I'm not in Lebanon.

    for sure
Im pretty sure it wont be too much, a typical ticket for the national team or a league match is 5000 Lira (3.33$). so im guessing starting price approx 10$? ranging to like 50? i doubt they'll be able to raise more than 2-3 Million, its good but not alot when u count the losses. but its a start, and its good to see that people care. i cant wait

that would be cool for lebanon.
yeah they should but don't count on it, it's a friendly, they were supposed to come to the friendly against croatia but we got robinho instead. :D
don't get me wrong, there will be a lot of starts but not all of them.

    lol@brazil

dunga is such an ass... el capitan vs. norway in wm 98, he tried to mock us while they were 1-0 up... But norway turned the table, busted a couple of caps in their buts, and won 2-1... "vi har skåret i marseille, vi har skåret mot brasil"
In interviews with dunga in front of the friendly vs. norway a couple of weeks ago, he did not wish to comment his behaviour, 1 looser 4real!

    go lebanon:tup: :weee:

haha u mentioned that before..I was going to go but then I changed my mind and bah, couldnt be bothered, never liked the Brazilian team and never liked Emerson in the first place so it wasn't worth it..stayed at home AND there was an Italy match during that game if I remember so that was the 3rd reason..
