I do want a better player, always. But I'm realistic enough to understand that what I want isn't guiding the strategy of or club. I'm also able to understand that Matuidi is a massive improvement on guys like Rincon, Lemina, Sturaro, and even on Khedira in the form he was in to finish last season. I'm also able to understand that absolute top players don't cost 20-30 mil in this market and that a good solid mid with the top level experience Matuidi has is a perfectly fine deal at this price point and not overpriced in the slightest. This is a guy who France football's player of the year in 2015. He's not some scrub.

In short, I wish we signed that top class 50mil plus mid, but for 20-30mil I think Matuidi is a good signing and improves our midfield depth, versatility and rotation ability significantly. We now have 4 good to vey good CMs. I hope next summer we replace Khedira with an absolute class signing like SMS if he continues to improve.
So like me you want us to improve our midfield. Which pretty much agrees with my post that you said was a "bitch, moan" because I hope we have a strong midfield over the next few seasons that would likely mean that Matuidi wouldn't play 80% of games.

You seem to think I am saying Matuidi is a bad player. I haven't said that, I would completely agree that he is better than Lemina and Rincon. But I stand by that he is an underwhelming signing who is not suited to our formation. Given his age, salary, tactical limits, sell on price I would say he is overpriced if we are going to pay 30.5m. It is a lot to pay for someone who is not a significant upgrade on our current midfield.

You seem to think we could spend for SMS net summer, why not spend that sort of cash this year? We took more cash than anyone in the CL last year, our transfer spend is pretty much break even. Instead of these expensive stop gaps, why not go out and sign players suited to our team and that we can build our team around for the next few seasons?

Maybe in sloth time, considering we tried to sign the guy last summer.
As mentioned above, we tried to sign him when we played a 3 man midfield, which we no longer do. If we wanted him so much for a whole year and he is a top target why wait until the end of the window? I would have thought that would be the sort of signing you'd close fairly quickly. Do you genuinely think he has been our target this whole time?

If we are using him for a 3 man mid, it makes more sense. But then, why change a formation that was a huge success for us and have added more attacking players to support it?

It was more of a response to your 3 posts combined, like the one you made about him being underwhelming, overpriced, panic buy who you hoped didn't make many appearances. That's the very definition of a bitch and moan post.

Anyways, I don't disagree entirely with the above post. I do think you are under rating Matuidi, and his suitability here. He was almost strictly a DM before his move to PSG and even there for his first year or two. And it's hard to say what formations we shall use. We could end up using a 4-3-3 with Dybala playing on the right.

I agree in as much that I'm uncertain of him in a 3-man midfield, but Allegri always suprises with how he uses his players, so I'm going to wait and see what he has in store over the next weeks and months once everyone has settled.

I was referring to your comment on him being in team of the year in 2012/13, are you on life support or something?
And completely ignoring the other individual awards he earned more recentlly which I listed, as though he was only good 5 years ago. The only one clutching at straws is you trying to pretend Matuidi is some Padoin level scrub.

What a novel idea. :D

Like I said how many other good midfielders were there in the French team of the year in 2012/13?

a midfield that consisted of Josuha Guilavogui... who the fuck is he? and Jérémie Aliadière (YES THAT ARSENAL REJECT!) you gotta help but laugh, hence why i said even padoin would get in that team of the year, I never said matuidi was padoin's level, again learn to read before jumping the gun and throwing insults

Probably should have quoted that one then, instead of the one you pretty much agreed with :D

Hopefully it turns out a good move, we will see. But I have heard little to convince me that he is an exciting signing, suited to our team at a good price.

The thought of changing formation worries me. The current one was a revelation, and moving Dybala even further away from goal on the right wing/with our current right backs is unsettling.

I agree that Allegri has a way of fitting players in. Time will tell, but the I stand by that this seems like a panic buy given the signs (late in window, doesn't suit our formation).

Learn to read. Like you completely ignoring the 2015-16 award, his France Footballer of the year award 2 years ago over guys like Pogba, Griezzman, Benzema, etc.

You just jumped on 2012-13 so you could bitch a little more as always.

talking about an achievement of a player from 5 years ago is almost like napoli talking about the scudetto they won 30 years ago, it's irrelevant. Good for him if he won the france player of the year 2 years ago, he was at his peak then, there is clearly a reason why he's been over looked more recently.

You're the typical sort of member if we bought pelissier will bang on about how he won player of the month 5 years ago and was chievo's player of the season at the same time just to justify the move forgetting that he has done absolutely fuck all recently
