I found this on channel 4. Don`t know if it is true:

Messina bring in Birindelli
Sunday 15 January, 2006
Messina have confirmed the imminent arrival of Juventus defender Alessandro Birindelli and several other reinforcements.

“Will Birindelli be presented to the Press on Monday? I cannot deny that,” said President Pietro Franza after last night’s goalless draw with Palermo.

“A couple of days ago I went to the Juventus headquarters to discuss a few things. I went there to get a few January sales, but above all I found professional people and some great players. I would be very happy to welcome Birindelli to Sicily.”

Birindelli has had a troubled season after damaging knee ligaments in August, but should be ready to play at the end of this month.

The 30-year-old joined Juve from Empoli in 1997 and has won four Scudetto titles with the club.

Messina, who sold last season’s top scorer Riccardo Zampagna to Atalanta last night, have already snapped up his replacement in the form of Sergio Floccari.

The 24-year-old support striker has impressed with Rimini, helping them to promotion from Serie C1 to a mid-table position in the second division. “He has already signed for us,” confirmed President Franza.

The Sicilians have been active on the transfer market and already brought in midfielder Alessandro Nocerino from Crotone, although his contract is still owned by Juventus and Genoa.

Messina land Birindelli - skysports.com

Messina have bolstered their squad with the signing of experienced Juventus defender Alessandro Birindelli.

The 30-year-old will be unveiled to the press on Monday after finalising his deal over the weekend.

"He will be a good signing," president Pietro Franza said,.

Birindelli is still sidelined with a knee ligament injury he suffered in August - but he should be fit by February so Messina have moved to seal his signature.

Messina have also signed Sergio Floccari from Rimini, who is replacing Riccardo Zampagna - who has joined Atalanta.

The Sicilian outfit have already sealed a loan deal for Antonio Nocerino from Cortone - although he is co-owned by Juventus and Genoa.

TBH i always rated Alessandro as an excellent professional at the club, but despite the goal vs deportivo,i never thought he had the quality to be a juve player, much like chimenti..both have great atitude and r nice persons but the only way they could be first team starters is at mid table clubs like messina, cagliari, sampdoria etc. Guess Moggi's just cleaning the house :D
