This Thursday Burke and I, as well as some other soccer-loving friends will be attending the Chelsea-DC United match in Washington DC. We have pretty damn good seats, right behind the Chelsea bench...so look for a kid wearing a Juve shirt with a flaming Chelsea jersey in hand. :D

Anyways, after the match we intend to find the hotel the Chelsea team is staying at to perhaps get some autographs/ cause trouble. I thought about calling up the top hotels to see where they are, however I doubt it would work. Best option I see is following their bus back to the hotel, if possible. If anybody has tried and succeeded in a quest like this, please offer some help.

Only tip I can give you is try to get in while the bouncer is on a coffee break. Or better yet enter through the adjacent travel agent and just stroll right in. Worked for me when Juve was in town.

I have a friend who was a hardcore Backstreet Boys fan and when they came here she snuck into their hotel room and saw them in bathrobes :D

what you gotta do is check the hotels beforehand. To find out where theyre staying you could figure out what company is doing the event and then call all best hotels and say youre from that company and you want to reconfirm everything

If that doesnt work then the day before the match you should go to all hotels and look for them. Thats how most people met the brazilian team when they came here.

To follow their bus back is a good option but not the best so I suggest finding out where theyre gonna stay before the match so after that you can just wait for them at the lobby

Good information Fabi. However, there are over 10 top class hotels in the DC area. Finding the company doing the event shouldn't be too hard, however making the calls might be.

Going to the hotels a day before the match is not an option cuz I work all day. :(

My former coach has contacts within DC United, so he might be able to get some information for us.

I saw Del Piero and a couple of other players in towels strolling through the corridor with a couple of guys in black suits walking with them. Dont ask me why they would do that, seeing as every room has a fully equipped bathroom. All I could surmise is that the hotel also had one of those group bathrooms like you have at swimming pools and camping places and these guys prefer them.

Find out where all the celebrities stay when they go there, usually its the same hotel for everyone.
Also you could call the company or the offices of DC United and ask when the press conference is going to be and where. Most press confs are at the hotel the team is staying.

If I were you Id skip a day from work and go to the hotels, if you find the hotel the chance you'll meet any player is like 95%

    Good luck!
