Tarmpropp, are you saying that it is only a metallica solo if hetfield makes the solo.
You seem to have misunderstood me, even tough I'm not sure, as I don't quite get your point.

My point is that some bands have several guitar players who make solos, either at the same time or during the years.
If you take the band "The Yardbirds", a band where Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton all played at one time. Now, you could say: "I really dig that one Yardbirds solo", but that would be very unprecise, as it's not the group the made the solo, it's the special guitar player, and tough that might seem unimportant with some bands, it often isn't.

Ok I think I get your point now.
I don't say that The edge or Hammet made a good solo, I say the bands.

Traffic Jam was really cool, hadn't heard that before.

I noticed that I hadn't mentioned one of my absolute favourites, "Yellow ledbetter" by Pearl Jam. One of the best songs ever.

There are too many good solos.

Peronally, i prefer balls than tehnique. Metallica solo's never impressed me (unless played by hetfield). Hammet has great tehnique (well he had a great teacher;)) but his ideas are a bit...well, confusing.

Try listening to Jeff Heley (spelling?) - Cant you see the light?

    Now that guy has balls:D

a lot of great solos here  some i dont even know

    here's one
Lynard Skynard(or something like that) - Freebird
:star: Would you believe that was Allen Collins' 1st take and that it was only one guitar with the exception of a few parts dubbed here and there.

Mac, Skid Row's In A Darkened Room is beautiful, I love playing it.

Like most, I'd have to say Comfortably Numb, Gilmour got it spot on playing and sound wise.

Hangar 18 by Megadeth has quite a few solos that are very technically challenging, that's why it's another favourite.
