Best guitarist alive?
I would have to put Steve Vai up on the list.
Best guitarist ever?
To me, its a tie between hendrix and Stevie ray Vaughn. Stevie ray could make his guitar cry if he wanted it to.
Most over-rated? I would say its John Frusciante. He's good, but he's not this god-send that he gets made out to be. He's a one-trick pony, but at least its a nice trick.
Most Under-rated?
That's easy.
Prince.
You laugh? Tell me you all saw the Rock and Roll induction ceremony when he absolutely tore through the solo of "While my guitar gently weeps". Amazing guitarist.

Too many to just simply name one...its impossible, and very unfair
i mean any of these great guitarist can be the best on their day. I think Jimmy Page just outweight the rest coz of his consistency coz i mean Led Zep did alooooooooot of touring (am i right?) and he was always on the note...plus he's still alive.
oh and add to the thread a few other names...Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour and John Petrucci
