the 80's paid too much emphasis on the outlook of bands and glmaour.the true essence of rock n roll, the excessses etc were more prominent in the 80's than any other era,but if you're looking at pure musicmanship then honestly, the 80's dont hold a candle to the 70's.

there is no way in hell that people like jon bon jovi, slash, mark knopfler, david lee roth etc are in the same class of legends as jimmy page, roger waters, ozzy osbourne, freddie mercury etc.

    musically,the 70's are unbeatable.

the 70's had the CREAM of rock n roll in terms of pure musical ability.bands like led zeppelin, pink floyd(even though they started out in the 60's,but their heyday was in the 70's),queen,deep purple etc are some of the greatest bands of all time.
