Berlusconi is the President Of Italy. I doubt he was happy that his national teams keeper is injured. I'm not positive but I think Berlusconi would care more about winning the World Cup, then the Scudetto. He's already had a very successful run with Milan.
Italy has so many quality keepers (not as our Buffon but they are good)
so he can be replaced, but Juve has only Chimenti (uncle Fester)as a back up.

MILAN v JUVENTUS 2-1

SCORERS: 20’ f.h. Vieira, 7’ s.h. Kakà, 32’ s.h. Serginho

For the Trofeo Berlusconi’s fifteenth edition, Juventus and Milan lined up the two couples of strikers Trezeguet-Ibrahimovic and Vieri-Shevchenko. The Bianconeri were the first to get dangerous: after 3 minutes, Zebina stole a ball in the midfield, drove on the right flank and assisted Nedved; the Czech’s cross pass found Ibrahimovic in the box but the latter’s effort ended wide of target. Two minutes later, Milan reacted with Cafu’s cross, missed by Vieri, who was near the far post. On 7’ minutes, Vieira served Ibrahimovic with a precious assist but the Swede’s shot on goal was finally saved by Dida. On 13’ minutes, Vieri moved forward into the box but Cannavaro was right on time and successfully anticipated him before the striker could find the goal. On 18’ minutes, Nedved was forced to leave the pitch after being hit hard by Maldini and Capello replaced him with Adrian Mutu. Two minutes passed and Juventus took the lead: Zebina, after a triangled pass with Trezeguet, served Patrick Vieira who beated Dida straight away, scoring his first goal in the black&white outfit. On 25’ minutes, Kakà found Vieri in the box but the Rossonero striker was found offside. A little later, Mutu made himself notice, running forty metres with the ball on his feet but his final cross was blocked by Dida’s two-time intervention. After 31 minutes, Juventus got close to a double score when Ibrahimovic, from the edge of the box, hit the post on Dida’s left. Five minutes later, Milan nearly earned a draw when when Kakà, served by Shevchenko, drove a right footed shot that got past the post. On the other side, Ibrahimovic answered back with a header over the crossbar. Kakà tried again on 39’ minutes but Buffon could clear into the corner. The Brazilian was the most dangerous Milan player and on 47’ minutes aimed at goal again but Cannavaro could intercept the ball and allowed Juventus to keep the lead until the break.

At the start of the second half, Mutu earned a free kick from the edge of the box but the resulting shot was blocked by the wall. Seedorf could thus serve Gilardino, who turned around in the box and put the ball in, but he was found offside. The draw arrived after 7 minutes into the second half: Seedorf served Shevchenko who, from the right flank, crossed to Kakà; the Brazilian, at the centre of the box, beated Buffon with a volley. The Bianconeri goalkeeper was forced to get out on 13’ minutes after coming off and meeting Kakà’s feet. Capello replaced him with Chimenti and also substituted Thuram with Kovac and Ibrahimovic with Del Piero. On 21’ minutes, Rui Costa passed to Gilardino who protected the ball right onto the box but his final effort missed the goal. On 25’ minutes, Emerson and Trezeguet made way to Giannichedda and Zalayeta. On 29’ minutes, Rui Costa, assisted by Pirlo, hit the post from a favourable position. On 32’ the Portuguese, after a 40-metre shot, placed the ball on Serginho’s feet, the Brazilian got into the box and beated Chimenti with a powerful left-footed kick. Juventus tried to fight back with Del Piero who, on 37’ minutes, asked Zalayeta for a triangled pass but his final attempt on goal was anticipated by Kaladze. On 44’ minutes, Vieira went for a conclusion from the edge of the box but the ball ended high over the crossbar. Bianconeri’s pressure in the final minutes did not create other scoring occasions and the Trofeo Berlusconi went to Milan, with a final score of 2-1.

“I saw a top level team in the first half. In the second half we suffered their freshness and the introduction of Serginho. I’m still statisfied of what we’ve showed in the first half: classy play and great determination.” Fabio Capello takes notice of Juventus’s steps forward but he cannot but be unhappy that injuries made Nedved and Buffon leave the playground: “In fact, the only regret is that we’re losing players in every match. Both Pavel and Gigi suffered hard blows. Unfortunately, this is an unlucky period: we’re playing very good matches but we’re paying the price of losing important players every time.”

“We’ve played a great first half, then, for reasons beyond our control, we lost some players and the match changed. In the first 45 minutes we conceded very little to Milan, who are one of the best teams around and would have we gone to the break with a 2-0 for us, no one could have complained”. Juventus’s Director General Luciano Moggi is satified with the Bianconeri’s match but he clearly regrets that the Bianconeri suffered so many hard blows. “They’re only episodes but, unfortunately, we’ve lost important players because of such injuries. Nedved and Ibrahimovic shouldn’t have anything to worry about while Buffon’s injury may be more serious; we hope to have him back as soon as possible.”

BEST WISHES TO GIGI BUFFON
8/16/2005 5:46:00 PM
MILAN - All thoughts are with Gigi Buffon at the moment following the news that the Juventus goalkeeper will undergo an operation on his shoulder and everyone within the Milan camp is hoping that the Italy number one will make a speedy recovery. Everyone involved with the Rossoneri knows what an excellent person and great ’keeper Buffon is, above all, president Silvio Berlusconi who immediately after Sunday’s game talked to Fabio Capello and sent his best wishes to the player who after all, made his debut for Parma against Milan in the winter of 1995. The incident, however, happened even though Ricky Kaka, who is considered a very sporting player and would never go out to injure an opponent, must remain above suspicion. The feeling is that Kaka’s speed into the area did not leave him enough time to remove his foot from the onrushing Buffon and unfortunately just clipped the Italy international’s shoulder although the damage was done.

Looking at the game overall, it would be wrong to think that Milan went out with any bad intentions and it is only normal that a match between these two sides is anything but a friendly as was pointed out by those involved before the game. Kaka received a few challenges but finished the game injury-free while the number of yellow cards backs up the case that it was a competitive but never dirty game. There were other incidents in other games through August and for example, Juventus player Camoranesi had to drop out of the Italy-Republic of Ireland game but not as a consequence of the encounter against Milan. In any case, it is best wishes to Gigi Buffon for his operation and quick return to playing.

Nah let him do it, it doens't matter to us anyway.
He doesn't pop in as much as we do.
He keeps on posting OLD news from the Juventus website, he usually does it in wrong threads as well.

EXTENDING A HAND
8/16/2005 6:18:00 PM

All of Milan are getting behind Gigi Buffon and showing their full solidarity to the Juventus goalkeeper as he faces a shoulder operation. Kaka may not have gone into the challenge with ill-intent, as the replays have confirmed, but the damage to the Italy number one has been done. The Brazilian has expressed his sincere regret at what happened and the good feeling all round extended to the Rossoneri dressing room between President Berlusconi and Carlo Ancelotti. Sivlio Berlusconi said: 'Carlo is one of the family for me and for Milan.' With a smile, he continued: 'Every now and then I am allowed a few hits to keep him under pressure.' This came after the president had said: 'I told Carlo that with all these top players I could be coach to. It’s true that if a tailor is distracted then even with the best cloth in the world he cannot obtain the best results.' The tone, the smile and the context of the phrase, shows the esteem in which the president holds Ancelotti who has great players at his disposal but must be careful to obtain the best results.
