Cesena coach Mario Beretta has demanded a spirited showing from his team ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s encounter against Juventus. The Seahorses remain rooted to the bottom of Serie A, but a recent unbeaten run of four games has given them hope of mounting a dramatic fightback.
The 52-year-old, who stepped into the hot seat in February, commented on the potential danger posed by the Bianconeri in his pre-match press conference.
He said: “Juventus are on another planet as far as almost all the other championship teams are concerned - there’s a reason why they’re unbeaten this year. We’ll give it a go, we’ve got many reasons to try and get a result, both for morale and for the league table itself. What we must do is take to the field with the spirit of an underdog and look to prevent Juve from playing too much of their own game. If you adopt defensive tactics then sooner or later you’ll concede. Essentially, it will require courage and sacrifice.”
