Schalke’s sporting director has confirmed that defender Benedikt Howedes wants to join Juventus.

Howedes’ agent revealed earlier on Friday that the ball was in Schalke’s court regarding a transfer, and Christian Heidel has seemingly given the move his blessing.

“Howedes told me he wanted to leave for Juventus,” he said at a Press conference.

“Now we’ll take care of this and we’ll surely have a quick decision.”

The German is expected to arrive on a season-long loan with an option to buy next summer for a combined €10m.

No, we still need a an overlapping fullback who can attack. They have to be two way in modern footie. We are way past the days of fullbacks just sitting back.


It was just recently we had Evra who was inept offensively (and he is a natural fullback is well more suitable there then a CB) and the huge difference it made for us to have overlapping threat with Sandro to stretch out opponents from fullback was huge. Otherwise if we can't we become mundanely predictable in closed down games.

Fullbacks are allways the only players who don't get marked out of games, the last weapon you have. So they can't be limited going forward anymore.
