Why is it that when someone criticizes DP, everyone else jumps on him, but when someone criticizes another player then it's ok? I think Matto was just passing his opinion, nothing major.

I personally stand by what I always said...DP had a better season last year than the 3 previous ones (though in the last part of the season he was back to his awful level). However in these past 5 years he never justified his hype and there are better unsung heroes in his position.

Said that, I wish DP all the best cos he's a Juve player, and unlike other wannabe superstarts *cough* Beckham *cough* he's rarely in the gossip pages or tries to pull a celebrity stunt, which is nice to see someone of his fame with his feet on the ground ;)

This guy is supposed to be Mr Juventus! Nedved was gone in the CL final and where was Del Piero? Virtually invisible! He should have stood up right there, taken the lead and bloody well drag his team to victory if he's really as good as everyone says he is.
You can't possibly do this .. blame Del Piero for the final and say he had a 'terrible season' .. I can't believe you're asking more of him .. he was our topscorer in Serie A and joint topscorer with Nedved in the Champions League .. we had a great season as a team winning the Scudetto and reaching the final of CL .. still what Del Piero is doing is not good enough ??

Ronaldo had a great World Cup in 98, but had a terrible final .. does that mean he suddenly isn't a good player ?? You can't forget about the numerous previous matches and judge a player on one single match, it's just not fair ..

so you're saying that you're satisfied with what you saw last season?
now, im not saying that DP is not good or what not, but i say that DP has room for improvement.

I saw the a few preseason mathces of juve in america, and while every1 was running here and there, DP was just jogging and stuff..and i've seen that a few times in the Serie A last season and the CL...

Ofcourse .. well according to Datasport ratings Del Piero was the second best player in Serie A after Nedved, how can I not be satisfied?

he have not played even a single match in la liga nd he's already in the dream team? :D

:wallbang:
i didn't see you complain to those who put Ronaldinho

yes, Quaresma is a fantastic player and this thread doesn't say anything about how good a history these players had in their leagues.

If you watched Barca's friendlies this summer you would know what i'm talking about!
He's played far better than any of his team-mates and has been one of the best players overfall in the US tour (Juve, Barca, Club America, Milan, ManU, and Celtic)

I think few friendly matches are not enough to put him in the team, and yes, this thread is also about the players histories in their leagues.
even if not, he still haven't done anything special in the world class level
