Juve move for Maxwell? Saturday 5 November, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brazilian starlet Cabelino Maxwell has refused a new contract at Ajax and the Italian Press believes a deal with Juventus could be struck in January.

The full-back’s current contract with the Dutch giants expires in June, so he will be a free agent in the summer and can negotiate with other clubs from the New Year.

It’s believed he already has a move to Juve lined up on a four-year deal worth £1.7m per season and he can thrash out the details for the 2005-06 agreement in January.

Maxwell has long been linked with a change of scenery and was linked to the likes of Milan, Manchester United, Inter and Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old Brazilian is reportedly eager to test himself out in Serie A and is a versatile player who can also play on the left side of midfield.

Coach Fabio Capello is said to be happy with the prospect of signing another of Ajax’s talented youngsters after snapping up Zlatan Ibrahimovic last summer.

Meanwhile, Empoli are also lining up a Brazilian newcomer after picking up Criciuma hitman Eder. The young forward had been in negotiations with Fiorentina and it’s believed the Viola have an option to take the player once he has settled in to Serie A.

Eder is said to have cost Empoli £350,000 and he will touch down in Tuscany during the January transfer window. He'll turn 19 later this month and is already an Under-20 international. He had a trial period with Lecce last season, scoring seven goals in as many friendly appearances.

It seems more and more likely that we will buy a Right side midfielder since Capello seems to not like Camoranesi very much...
Joaquin seems a more possible target now (I still hope Camo stays I really think he is very underated)

Juventus target Palermo pair Thursday 17 November, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus and Palermo are in negotiations over a double-deal that would see Andrea Barzagli and Simone Barone head to Turin.

Barzagli (pictured) and Barone are both emerging talents who have earned international recognition with Marcello Lippi’s Azzurri side and have caught the eye of Juve Coach Fabio Capello.

Don Fabio is said to have already ‘booked’ Barzagli in for next season, while Barone has been identified as the solution to a Bianconeri midfield back-up problem that neither Manuele Blasi nor Giuliano Giannichedda have managed to cure.

The 27-year-old would not come cheap, though, given that Palermo paid £2.4m to Parma for the midfielder’s services. His stock having since risen after winning caps for Italy, Barone is now said to worth somewhere in the region of £4.75m.

Juventus, though, are discussing a player-plus-cash deal with Blasi and Antonio Mirante - whose on-loan performances in goal for Siena this term have attracted the interest of Rosanero Coach Luigi Del Neri - going in the opposite direction.

The Sicilian side are keen on acquiring the shot-stopper as early as January, but with La Vecchia Signora having promised Siena they can keep Mirante until the end of the season, the double-deal is unlikely to take place until the summer.

forget about Joaquin.

Barzagli seems very close to us. And Barone would be better than Blasi, Giannichedda.

I hope this deal can go through. Offering them Blasi, Mirante and soime cash is ok to me.

Why is everbody so excited about Barzagli? He seems like a perfect candidate to take over for our favorite Nicola Legrottaglie and become a presence at Juventus...seriously he is still an unproven player who can be fantastic one match and then totally look like a different player the next. He's a decent marker however I have questions over his tackling ability and how he reads the game. If Barzagli is gonna be our replacement for Thuram we might as well shoot ourselves...Perea or Rodriguez are clearly more talented defenders.

Joaquin is very talented and it would be a pleasure to have him at Juventus despite his nationality. We can only hope Chelsea does not decide to bid on the player and Real somehow cocks up like they did for our very own Vieira.
