Primavera coach Marco Baroni believes Sunday’s 4-0 triumph over Empoli has given his side a new lease of life ahead of their forthcoming Next Generation Series clash with Manchester City.
Having come through four games in the space of two weeks unscathed - yielding seven points from three championship encounters and recording a 1-1 home draw against Manchester City – Baroni’s young guns are gearing up to do it all overagain when they travel to Manchester for the return tie on Thursday night.
Before departing for England, the 49-year-old tactician analysed his side’s recent form in an exclusive interview with Juventus Channel.
Baroni said: “We put in an important performance against Empoli. The lads read the game well, fighting all the way with maximum concentration. This is a sign of development and maturity.
“We’re also in good physical condition. We’ve come through the third game in the space of a few days and managed to shake off the struggle we faced playing on a heavy pitch in Alessandria. The results are giving us conviction.
“Now we’ll prepare for the return clash against City. We hold this competition in high regard, it’s an important tournament and features top level sides. Our group is more open than ever, we want to do well and claim all three points in England.”
