Barcelona will watch tonight’s World Cup Final with interest after they were this morning linked with Juventus stopper Lilian Thuram.

The Spanish giants are apparently ready to help themselves to the Frenchman if his Italian club are demoted this summer as part of the Calciopoli probe.

Reports suggest that Barca officials will fly into Turin on Monday to open talks with the Old Lady of Italian football.

Although Thuram is now 34, the Liga champions have been impressed with his form and fitness during the World Cup.

It’s understood that Barcelona are ready to offer the former Parma ace a two-year deal at the Camp Nou.

Thuram, according to sources in Turin, is set to use the next two weeks to decide what his future holds.

Juventus will demand a fee for the ex-Monaco sensation even if they may ask for as little as £1m for the central defender.

Thuram is one of eight Juventus players who will be present at the World Cup Final in Berlin’s Olympiastadion this evening.

Wasted my time looking at this thread, to think that Thuram doesn't even deserve that sort of respect for what he did for Juventus

Well, a brave step by Lilian trying to destroy the new project of Mr. Capello in Real...

    Go, Lilian...

I'll be cheering for you whenever you play against the "REAL MERCENARIES"...

To be honest, Thuram can leave if he wants to. He should join Real Madrid as well so perhaps Capello will undeservedly hand him the captains armband again.

why? If there were any team that I would be happy losing our stars to it would be Barcelona..

Although I doubt Barca would be interested in Thuram considering his age, Cannavaro is the more likely target with Zambrotta and Buffon. that be a great Barca team.

According to Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, European champions Barcelona have made Thuram their number one target to reinforce their defence after his outstanding displays at this summer's World Cup.

The 34-year-old France international is on holiday after his country's World Cup final defeat against Italy and his agent Oscar Damiani told Mundo Deportivo he had yet to decide his plans for next season.

Damiani said: "Thuram is on holiday in Guadeloupe. He is not thinking of the future yet.

"He will wait for the decision on Juventus's future and then he will make a decision on his future in 15 or 20 days.

"In the event of Juve being relegated, it is possible he could go to England or Spain or Italy, but nothing has been decided
    ."

He said somewhere that if Deschaps asked it, he would stay in B,
it seems that rather Juve is interested to let him go,
because of his age and let him retire like a true champion
and not in a lower division, his team spirit and off the pitch respected contibutions, are always welcomed if he ever decides to join us, as managerial staf in the future...

if he would stay, he could lead by exemple,
even at his age no Serie B attacker would scare the French rock,
IMO we sould definitly keep one of our two rocks
and it seems Thuram isnt such a profitable sale at the moment,
he did already accepted a pay cut, he would accept again...

Juventus defender Lilian Thuram has stated he refuses to play in Serie B next season and would be happy with a move to Barcelona.

The 34-year-old France defender has been at the Stadio Delle Alpi for five seasons, but following the Bianconeri's punishment for match-fixing now feels ready to leave.

The Old Lady were relegated and received a 30-point deduction after being found guilty at the trial in Rome, and Thuram is one of a number of the club's stars now looking for new employers.

"There are really few possibilities I will play in Serie B next season," Thuram explained.

"For the moment I haven't discussed a lot with the club, but meanwhile I hope to find a club to remain in [Serie] A."

Last season's Serie A champions were stripped of their last two league titles following the verdict on Friday, and though an appeal has been launched, the vultures are already swooping for their talent.

Thuram himself has been linked with a move to the UEFA Champions League holders, and the veteran would be more than happy with a move to La Liga.

"We will see. Anyway should it be Barcelona this is a good destination," Thuram added.
