Bayer 04 Leverkusen striker Dimitar Berbatov has been named Bulgaria Player of the Year for the third time in his career.
EURO 2008 aspirations
Berbatov previously won the accolade in 2002 and in 2004, and narrow beat Celtic FC midfield player Stilian Petrov in this year’s poll of Bulgarian journalists. "I'm delighted to win the award for a third time," he said. "Now I'm looking forward to 2006. Bulgaria may have failed to reach the World Cup finals in Germany but I believe we can reach the [UEFA] EURO 2008 finals."
Ješić accolade
PFC Levski Sofia veteran Daniel Borimirov finished third, while 19-year-old team-mate Valeri Domovchiyski collected the award for Young Player of the Year. PFC CSKA Sofia's Miodrag Ješić was voted coach of the year.
