My lower back is killing me...
Don't know why I have it but it hurts like hell. It hurts the most when I am at school and sit up almost the whole day, and it hurts when I am at football practice. The pain is located right over my butt, and it feels like it is something muscular.I have had it in almost 1 year but the last 3-4 weeks has it got worse.
One of my teachers says that it is probarly a muscular injurie, that I have got from the movement when I kick the ball....
And oh yeah it dosen't hurt when I am running...
what do you guys think it is?
And what should I do??

I would look for answers online- on the forums related to back pains and injuries. I know those are helpful.

Hope you feel better.

I started to experience back problems last September. But my thing was lack of exercise. As soon as I started to go to the gym (with back exercises) everything became fine.

I heard somewhere that lower back injuries can be avoided by doing a lot of sit ups. If you keep your stomach muscles in good shape, your back will be less likely to cause trouble.

But I don't know how fit you are of course.

its called L.B.P (low back pain)
alot of things can cause this pain
1-Lumbosacral sprain(muscular spasm or injury of paravertebral muscle), u can have this if u moved suddenly. and its characterized by an increas in the pain with any movement

2-Disc (bulge, protrusion, herniation, prolapse), its an injury to the disc pad seperating the vertebrae and funtioning as a shock absorber, u can get this in case of lifting heavey things (most common), and its characterized by:
a- usually it doesnt increase with the movements except bending forward and/or backward
b-Radiation of the pain to one or both lower limbs, to the level of the knee when its a higher disc (L3-L4), to the level of the calf (L4-L5) or to the level of the foot involving the toes (L5-S1) known as sciatica
    c-numbness in the Lower limbs
    d-Parasthesia in the lower Limbs
in advanced stages u can have what so called Cauda Equina when u have a uncontrolled/difficulties in passing urine and and in sexual intercourses (which i dont think is ur problem)

    other uncommon causes :
discitis , inflammation of the disc
    abcess
meningitis, with high fever and neck pain
    TB
    spina bifida
    spondylosis
    spondylolisthesis
    scoliosis

u got to do the following:
get urself a lumbosacral (L.B) X-Rays which usually show the problems of the muscular sprain which featured as a loss of lordosis (striaghtening of the Lumbar vertebra)

if X-rays failled to show anything , then u better go for MRI(magnetic resonance image) which usually shows the problems specially if u (ur physician) suspect a disc prob

I don't have high fever but when my back is stiff sso is my neck...
its not bacterial meningitis (cuz this one should be with high fever and sever headache)
anyway there is another type of meningitis called nontypical (virual infection) but again it should be with skin rash and its very common in the newborn and childhood

i think its a muscular spasm only , here is my advice
seek medical advice (cuz i cant examin u over the net):D

if its confirmed to be a muscular spasm then
Muscadol O.D (one tab a day)
Reparil gel Bid (twice a day), local application without messagin and then just apply hot water pads to that area for 15-20 Mins
Olfen gell or voltaren gel are ok as well if u didnt find Reparil gel (same applications)
    and u will be ok
by the way muscular spasm even without treatment should be resolved within 3-7 days
    get better soon

Juve89, I had the same problem just like you, each time I want to pass or shoot the ball, it was killing me, Even when I sit down it hurts like hell, I know it's above the butt.

The best thing you do is you use BENGAY and wear something that can make your body hot and let it sweat. Believe me you'll feel like a horse after a week..

It seems you have a similar thing as I has a few years ago.

In football practise I jumped to head a ball, and when I landed I felt a pain in the lower part of my back, at the bottom of my spine just above my butt.

In the following days everytime I put my foot down while running I felt it, and really bad when I landed after jumping. It wasn't terrible, just really annoying.

Finally after a week I went to a doctor, and he told me to wait. After three weeks my back was back to normal. I was never explaned what actually happened.
