Looking at this Italy squad makes me laugh. A random garbage. I grew up watching Baggio, Del Piero, Totti, Vieri, Pirlo, Maldini, Nesta, Baresi, Cannavaro, Zambrotta etc. Then you had players like Chiesa, Signori, Casiraghi that couldnt quite make it or were occasionaly called up.

This is just nitpicking

Gnonto plays in championship (its basically epl serie B).

Some of these guys dont justify call up at all.

Mancini (Roma) was one of the worst players last euros. Calafiori and Bastoni are better anyway.

Isnt Chiesa sidelined for Liverpool? And he is finished anyway. Chiesa is finished. People need to accept this and move on.

Based on form even Gatti shouldnt be there and we cry over Locatelli absence? Is there any Juve player who actually deserve call up based on our performances?

Okoli plays for Leicester who are 19th in the epl table. Relegation player should be called up?

Esposito plays in serie B.

Baldanzi and Pisilli are exciting youth products (possibly even called up for youth team still) who are still growing and might get their chance during qualifications. Do you really want a 19 year old to start against Germany for debut senior team?

People need to get a reality check. I watched some of the autumn games. Italy beat France and Belgium to even get to this Nation League stage. There are some exciting young players coming up. Ricci was running the show in the midfield. Tonali coming back also bringing some new energy. The question is if Kean or Retegui can turn it on for the National Team.

2016 was the worst Italy squad. Apart from BBC. Just look at this against Germany who were World Champions at the time:

Barella - Ricci - Tonali/Frattesi is def better than Sturaro - Parolo - Giacherini

Its incredible that a country boasting those players is now represented by losers like Di Lorenzo and Politano.

So this is the situation for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualification (UEFA).

In the UEFA groups, 1st place = automatic qualification. 2nd place = advance to playoffs.

If Italy beats Germany in the Nations League QF (two-legged tie), then Italy will be placed in UEFA Group A (4 team group):
- Italy
- Slovakia
- Northern Ireland
- Luxembourg

If Italy loses to Germany, then Italy will be placed in UEFA Group I (5 team group):
- Italy
- Norway
- Israel
- Estonia
- Moldova

Norway with Haaland and Odegaard could be a tricky game if Italy aren't prepared.
